This week, I decided that I haven't played with wool very much this new year. I needed reds and blues. I got out my dye and went through that great little book called Antique Colors for Primitive Rugs by Emma Lou Lais and Barbara Carroll.
I used the dye #12 Emma Lou's Favorite Red.
I over dyed most of them. I can't wait to start a little heart rug that Ron drew out for me. I just have to hook something with red hearts in February.
I also dyed some blues.
Only for the blues I used the Dusty Old Dye Book by Karen Kahle. I need to order new dye packets and I was using what I had.
There is something that just settles me and makes me calm and peaceful and relaxed. I hope you have a lovely new week. Valentines Day will be here before you know it.

Kim,
That is my favorite dye book!!!
The reds are good, but those blues are to "dye" for. I have the Dusty Dye Book, too. I need to find it. Now I want to dye some wool, but doctor appointments Monday & Tuesday, lunch with a friend Wednesday. Geez. Even in retirement it's hard to find time...lol.
Hugs :)

I honestly love colors!
They are joys to me pretty much wherever I come upon them!
Blue and red are my two most favorite ones.
Hope to see your hearts when you are finished!

How so very sweet of Ron to draw a heart rug for you. I bet he would even love to hook also. Men are good at it. After all he's very artistic. Enjoy your new rug.
I love those prim colors. They are relaxing to look at.
I'm glad you're getting lots of rain. Your lawn and plants will love it.
Hugs,
Julia
It brings a smile to my face to see stacks of yummy dyed wool - now the dreaming starts !

There is always comfort to be found here. I feel more relaxed after reading your posts. :) That rainbow is beautiful and I love the colors of the wool you dyed! Can't wait to see the heart rug!
I love the red! Hook away and make a lovely heart!
I do like Valentine's Day mostly because of all the red, but the actual day my hubby will be gone and I will babysit. That's good. I might eat chocolate.
Yes, cozy wool days are wonderful! I can't wait to see what you hook!
Wow! Two very clear rainbows for Elliott!
Those red wools are just wonderful for Valentine's Day projects, Kim!
Have lots of fun!

I like that "overdyed" red wool. It'll be fun to see your heart rug. Hooray for the rains! PTL!
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with these pieces. I can imagine how wonderful the wool feels. It must be very satisfying to accomplish the dyeing and over-dyeing and end up with beautiful colors to work with.
i am happiest when i am creating something crafty!! the wools are beautiful colors!!!
