Hello---Goodbye.

I was trying to come up with a title and that old song popped into my mind. Yes, today is New Year's Eve, so its good bye and in the morning it will be 2017. So glad to be here right now.

For Christmas this year, Peter gave me a Fit Bit. To say I am obsessive-compulsive would be an under statement. It rained all day yesterday. All day. I couldn't go walk. I walked around the porches and around the house. I went to bed feeling like a failure because I didn't reach 10,000 steps. It was a rest day too. Ron got one a fit bit. I have to tell you about what happened today. We both started a challenge.  We are supposed to take as many steps as it takes to walk around New York City. Ron keeps stopping saying, " Wow, I just got a jewel or look I got another jewel or he passed another milestone.

We were talking down the Christmas lights and I left the light box in the garage so I could walk back and fourth getting extra steps so I can make it to NYC. I am not getting that nice little buzz on my wrist to tell me I just left Grand Central Station. I went and walked around the pasture a few times. Finally I came in the house and looked at my fit bit. Guess what? If I want a jewel I have to do pushups. For thirty seconds. Then If I want another jewel, I have to answer some questions and drink some water. I told Ron it is just how my life works. I am hoping his fit bit turns mean next week. Thankfully it sent me fireworks when I passed 10,000 steps.

I want to design and draw out my own rug patterns this year. I am not making a resolution its just something I would like to do and push myself in to drawing more. I really do like drawing. I spent a whole week last week just doodling pictures and it felt so good to my brain. I would like to do more. Would you like to see my first two rugs of 2017?

This rug Kessie drew a picture for me when she was here in May. I had not got it on burlap yet. The rooster is from my very first Mille Fluer rooster. He was such a favorite, but I was so scared he was going to hurt my grandsons when they were two I had to get rid of him. Emilie drew a picture of him and that is what Kessie used as a reference. It will be nice to hook him in wool.

My second rug, is of course my drawing. I wasn't trying to draw a fat hen but that is how they all come out. Just plump hens. It could be because I have been watching my hens in the yard and they are all kind of plump this time of year.

It will be nice to get back to my hook and my wool and all of that. I will have to get my steps in so I can sit in peace.

I hope you have a delightful new year. I hope that 2017 is a great New Year!

Thank you for spending another year reading along with me. I appreciate it very much.

~Kim~

"Lord, give to me a quiet heart
That does not ask to understand,
But confident steps forward in
The darkness guided by thy hand."

I got a Fitbit in September. Mine is very basic so thank goodness it doesn't want me to do pushups...lol! I do laps in the basement just about every hour to get in my 250 steps per hour, but I have a heck of a time getting 10,000 steps daily. I think it's been weeks...sigh.
Fun rugs! I look forward to seeing your progress.
Happy New Year.
Hugs :)

I'm so behind the time, I don't have a Fitbit but I don't think I need one with all the walking I do in a day at work.

I love your fat hen design and the one your daughter designed for you.

I hope that you enjoy the new year. It's really a gift of time all wrapped up in seasons and life's journey using our own personal God given gifts. May it be your best year ever.
Hugs,
Julia

I like both designs!
I am NOT obsessive compulsive at all but Bill is. I have low goals. When I get 10,000 steps I think, "I missed out on some good sitting today." Maybe THAT'S why I'm a chubby hen!

Both rugs are great. OMG the Fitbit made me laugh. They are addictive. I got into a heated challenge battle with my cousins wife. Then mid summer mine died and I haven't replaced it.

Merry New Year's Eve Kim.... Yes, I am living it up this year sitting at home and catching up on some blog reading LOL.... Hubby is in Fargo, and the snow and cold are nipping at the door, so staying in, stitching, reading, and watching The Twilight Zone sounded preferable to dinner out with friends. Your Fitbit stories made me laugh.... My husband got a knock-off version when he got a new phone this summer and gave it to me. I don't seem to have a problem with the 10,000 steps (especially in the summer when I was watering my plants...Wowsers...I could walk 4 miles and not be done ha ha...)but mine came with a game called Myland... It is addicting , but frustrating because it was designed for Iphones and just adapted to Androids like I have, I don't get all the features that everyone else gets (like adding friends, getting gems for certain things, etc.).... And just my luck, I earned a parrot for my island and it flew away never to be seen again. Anywho...I'm babbling... I love your new rug designs...and am certain you will do amazing things with them. I just hope to find my hook in the coming year. ;o) Wishing you a wonderful new year ahead my friend... Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Getting into shape is way more fun with achievements! I'm sure Ryan and I would be thin as rails if we got them. Both those rugs will be so cool!

"...confident steps forward..." I like that.

If I had a fit bit I'd get tired from walking in circles so much looking for something I laid down.

Happy New Year.

My daughter wanted me to get a fitbit, but I told her no, I already know when I'm walking or sitting or whatever. ~smile~

I like your rooster and chubby hen. It'll be fun to see what you create with your own drawings and rug hooking.

Have a wonderful New Year, Kim!

What you need now is a walking desk arrangement so you can draw and even hook while racking up steps - when is your birthday?

Happy New Year!

Ilike your fat hen...very cozy! The first time my fitbit buzzed, I thought I'd walked into a swarm of bees...lol.

The girls and I are doing a challenge among ourselves. We are going to walk 2017 miles in 2017. Which is crazy because that's 5.5 miles every day. Plus, 3 of them are runners. They haven't been running in a while but they do run and all I do is walk less than one mile every day. So far today Tucker and I have 4577 steps which isn't even halfway there. UGH. When Baby M arrives this afternoon, we'll go for another walk. I"ve had my FitBit for about 3 years or so and I guess it'll finally feel like it's being used. LOL I LOVE your rugs! Especially the little plump hen. She's adorable! Happy New Year!

Good luck with the fitbit. Sounds intriguing. I am a bit compulsive myself, so I don't know how it would work for me. I can't wait to see your rugs. Wishing you a safe, happy, and healthy new year.
