We had to drain our pool this weekend. Not-something-we-want-to ever-do!!! During one of the dust storms the drains on the bottom of the pool got stopped up, Ron tired to unstop them from the filter, but the clog is really bad so we have to do it from the deep in the bottom drain. Since standing on the bottom of the deep end, holding your breath, trying to use a screw driver in 50 degree water is not a option, the only course is to drain it. In a drought year. Believe me, I have tried to figure out how not to fill it back up. I asked Ron if we could just turn it into a root cellar. You know put boards on top and put dirt on top, he said no.
So onto my morning. I have watched to many Sci-Fi movies. It is Monday morning, the first day of Easter vacation. Feeling like I want to do something different, I decide a smoothie is a good way to start. I get all of my ingredients into the blender. I am standing in the kitchen, looking out the window, when I see and hear the power blip. Then it does it again. My thought is darn, the power is out, no smoothie. I notice though, that the oven light isn't blinking. I look over at the microwave, which is blinking. I notice the display. It says, " "Only you can choose to have a nice day." I thought, what the heck, then it says, " choose clock now." I obey, I choose clock and set the clock, and feel like I have just entered the twilight zone. How would I ever show anyone what I have just seen? Who will believe me? I am not sure if I believe me.
I am just minding my own business and I can hear a really low airplane behind me. I turn to look and it is a World War ll cargo plane with four engines. As it flies overhead, I look up and on the underside of the wing is written, " Rides." I thought, rides? Wow, I would like to go for a ride. I think about it, Peter comes outside to talk to me for a bit and I get finished and come inside. I have been out there a hour and a half. Which feels like I have been out there only minutes. I have this weird feeling in my head, as the load of clothes I put in the dryer what felt like just a few seconds ago is finished and dry.
I feel as if I have been in a time warp. Maybe I should just go back to bed and start over.
So now really begins my Monday. I hope you have a lovely day.

Your photos are wonderful.
What a cool message from the microwave.
Whoa? Were you dreaming? Sounds like a weird Monday!
Hope your week is better!
Only you can choose!!!
Kim, you're so funny. Too bad you can't save that water to water the garden and yard later on when it's really dry. I can see you really love manual work.
I have a washer that is always beeping when someone brushes against the dials and it drives me crazy.... and you have a talking microwave.
Your irises are so beautiful.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
JB
i think you need to stay away from vehicles and any motorized equipment today. :)
You've definitely had an interesting start to your week! Maybe you'll blink and spring will actually be here! Please?! :) Enjoy your week, Kim!
Only you can choose to have a nice day. Great message! I could be having a very bad day today, but I'm trying to make it good instead.
Cleaning that pool sounds like a major chore! Do you have warning of a dust storm approaching? I'd be tempted to cover the pool. Would that help at all? I do like the message on your talking microwave.:-) xo Nellie
I agree, your talking microwave sounds like it is right out of some futuristic movie!
I don't envy you that pool cleaning job. I'm glad to hear you're not minding it.
Hmmm, sounds like you had a little twilight moment. None of my appliances talk to me. It's sad really :). Hope the rest of your day levelled out
I love your spring flower pics.
Strange little messages from the micro. Hmmm....you never know. I often think: How does God get to us these days with all of the electronics and gadgets that we pay attention too? I think He'll just use them!
God bless you!
I know all about days like this, but maybe not the talking microwave ;)
We did not open our pool last year, too much work!! Gorgeous blooms today Kim!!
Whew...I am with you...all a little weird. But a good message if your going to get one. We had to drain and clean out our pool once when we lived at our old house....quite the chore! Enjoyed your pictures as always!
I think the world might be a better place if all our microwaves reminded us that only we can choose to have a nice day. ;-)
Here's to another great day! Love the flower pics.
My goodness, what a Monday you had!
That's too bad about the pool... I hope you're able to get it all sorted out and fixed without having to dig up any plumbing.
Your irises are so beautiful! I just love seeing your garden pictures... everything is growing and beautiful at your place.
It is definitely spring in your area :)
Sending wishes for a great week, without any additional twilight moments.
~K.
I've missed you! I'm home and settling in again. I had the best time! I hope you are all well, humming along in the spring time!
An interesting Monday indeed, Kim! Love that you were down in your pool and feeling like time was flying. Sometimes I get that feeling when I'm outside weeding -- just in the zone, I guess :) Your Easter stitchery is beautiful! Needlepoint? I used to love to do needlepoint but don't seem to see it much around anymore at the crafts stores. I visited a needlework shop when we were on vacation recently and the store owner said they had a hard time getting the imported yarns for needlepoint in recent years, so most companies had switched over to floss. Do you have a good source to recommend for needlepoint supplies? Happy almost Easter!!
Great post - there may have never been another blog post that talked about spending 1 1/2 hrs in the bottom of the swimming pool - and certainly not one that also tells about the talking microwave. Your bee picture is outstanding!! To get one bee clearly on the flower, the other clearly flying in - amazing. I'm saving it in my screensaver collection.
A detailed phenomenon on what might be called a typical Monday for most of us may not really be the same for people in other parts of the world. Nevertheless, my focus here is how articulate you have been on building that sense of relaxation now that it was Easter Monday and definitely sometime off of work. I liked how you do your "Typical Monday".
