Dying Wool and Other Stuff

Today was a good day to play with colors and dye wool. I needed some red for the chicken I am hooking. Once I start though I just keep trying more colors. The one thing I like about using Kool Aid is that it makes the house smell so nice.

Here are all the lovely colors all stacked. Sorry this is so blurry, the cat thought I wanted a picture of her and she kept jumping up and I was trying to dodge her and get a photo. I finally had to get my son in here to hold the cat and she started fighting him because she wanted up here. Silly cat, she was having a needy day.

Yesterday my husband found two newly opened nurseries. He stopped in and he told me about this pepper plant. It is called a Black Dragon. I was intrigued. He had to go run errands today so I told him to run back by and get it. I can't wait to try it in salsa.
Here is another picture of how tall this amazing plant is, not to mention it is just gorgeous.

It is the large one in the light green pot. I also wanted to show you the neat little thing my husband made for the flowerbed. This is all of his current Bonsai projects. This way he can keep a eye on them as he works on them. I thought it turned out really nice. That is one of my favorite things to do now while he wires trees, I hook rugs. It is very pleasant. That pepper plant is as tall as me. I have never seen such a big plant.

The tech came back today to work on the line. He said the guy yesterday didn't finish the work. It makes you wonder doesn't it? He said the guy must not have wanted to move the desk out because that is where the wires are. It works off and on and right now it is working.

Can you believe that we are already at July?

Have a great rest of the weekend,
~Kim~

I love those colors. I think that the cat want to lay on the wool because it's comfortable and pretty. Smart cat.

I'm glad that you got your internet connection gain.

Yesterday we had some thunder storms and my husband unplugged the computer and the modem to protect the computer.

This morning after coming from the barn, he turned the TV on to watch the news and we had no reception and a number to call appeared on the screen. He called the number and said we have no fiber optic connection and no internet and no lights on the modem. Then he remembered that he had unplugged it.

I hope that the new peppers will be to your liking. I like mine medium hot. Your plants are lovely. Have a great weekend.

Hugs, JB

Pretty colors...amazing that you can do that with Kool-Aid! That's an interesting looking pepper. Look forward to hearing what you think of the taste. I've been pre-cooking and pre-baking for our beach trip that starts on the 7th. Freezing it all . It will make things easier once we get there. Hope your Sunday is blessed!

Lovely shades of red and orange.

I have never heard of this pepper. I will be interested in hearing how you all like it.

I do love the smell of Kool-aid! Your wool is SO gorgeous, Kim! How is the chicken coming along?
I know! July tomorrow! Wow!

Are those peppers the same as the wicked black ones in Kung Pao Chicken from Panda Express? If so, I'm not touching them. The plant does look awesome. So do your wool colors. :-)

I have never heard of this type of plant Kim, sounds very interesting, you will just have to keep us informed. The wool is just gorgeous, I love the bright vibrant colors, I have never dyed wool with Kool-aid. It is hot here in Maine, I kept my toes in the lake all day, I accomplished nothing! Hope you are well, Happy July 1st! almost!

Time does fly, but I can believe it is July. Our neighbors are lighting fireworks like crazy. The dog freaks out and runs through the house leaving puddles. She's housebroken, but terrified of storms and fireworks. So, yes, it must be close to the 4th of July.

I love the bright colors of your Kool-Aid wool.I'd love to watch your process of hooking a rug. How about a tutorial for those of us who are clueless?I'd love to see the steps you take.

It's been blistering heat and we had a scary storm last night. I'm surprised our greenhouses are still standing. I'm like a nervous dog in a storm, since we had a tornado hit the farm (20 feet from where we were) years ago. I never used to be afraid of storms until that happened. I was very watchful last night, worrying so about our animals. I prayed, and prayed, worried, and prayed some more. All were okay.

Have a peaceful Sunday:)

Wow, the wool colors are so vibrant. Not a ugly color in the whole beautiful bunch. I can't wait to hear more about the pepper plant. What a different variety and color it is.

I love your wool colors! What fun we would have it I lived closer and we could do a dyeing day! Now, we need to see pics of the rug progress. Neat pepper variety. We're having major woodchucks battles in my little garden. Boo, hoo!

Hi! I was messing around on my blog, and had added a new URL to the list of blogs I like to check and noticed that you were DYEING Wool!!!!

I agree with everyone else, that the colors are lovely, and they suggested Bird of Paradise or hibiscus flowers immediately to me. Adding a packet of lemonade to any of your formulas will "warm" up the colors. The blue raspberry + water in a separate container, can be added to "cool" down the colors... :) Blue is a much more powerful color in Koolaid, that's why I suggest mixing it up on its own. You can add a little or a lot, to change up your dye. I need to go back to older posts and read, but can't do that right at the moment, but HAD to come say woo hoo! Email me when you get ready to leave the world of koolaid, for the other kinds of dyes... Hugs Jo

What?! Kool Aid???? The colors are so vivid! I love them! Gosh Kim, is there anything you can't do? I've never heard of the black dragon pepper- interesting. Are they hot? I meant to say in your post about your sweet doggie that I know how you feel about her. I keep wondering why in the world I got Tucker- if anything ever happens to him, I don't think I'll survive! Yes, I catching up backwards...LOL
