Primroses

Remove Formatting from selectionToday, I went grocery shopping and outside the door
is a stand filled with primroses. Every week when I walk
in the door, I stop and stare and want so badly to take them
home. I harden my heart and walk on past.
This morning as I walked past, I saw the sign on them
that said, 9.99 I thought no way would I pay that much
even if my body wants primroses.

I knew that later today we were going shopping at Lowe's
for some potting soil so I could start filling my pots so
I didn't think to much about primroses or their lack of a
home.
Imagine to my delight when we got out at the garden of Eden
other wise known as the garden department at Lowe's.
But rack after rack of primroses. I bought these 4 at
98 cents each. Can you imagine the markup the grocery
store is getting on flowers.
I came home and I just had to put them in a pot and I sat
them outside so I can look out my kitchen window when I
am cooking dinner and feast my eyes on these flowers.
It was raining again by the time we were finishing up.
We bought 5 more blueberry bushes. Which brings
our count up to 10. Only 90 more to go. I would like
100 out there someday. The next thing on my to-do
list to plant is to buy 5 Avocados trees to buy next.
It was so muddy when we were planting the blueberry
bushes that we were up to the tops of our shoes in mud.
We have very sandy soil out here so it was so strange to have
mud like that so we have had more rain than I ever remember
having since we moved out here 10 years ago.
That is good though.
I hope you Monday is off to a good start.

Irises in the Morning

This is a cheater picture, it is from last spring. Sorry,
It has been raining all day long and everything I might
have wandered around and looked at was sopping wet,
even the chickens. So I dug around and found this.
I thought it would make you long for spring like it has
me.
I sewed to day but I really don't have anything to show
for it. I have always wanted to learn punch needle so today
was the day I sat and tried to do it. It looks okay, it is just
the picture on the box looks so much better. About the
only thing I can say for my work is at least I got the colors
right.
Oh I did work out in my husbands shed cutting out wood
things I am going to paint next week. When I get those
finished I will post a picture.
Today was the first morning that I didn't post. I wanted to
see if it was possible for me to ignore blogging. I missed it
very much. Even though I knew I really didn't have much to
say that I thought anyone would want to read.
It really is amazing how much I care about this silly
blog. I read about ladies that have been doing this for
4 years and I wonder how they have done it so long.
But after today I understand. Blogging is like letting
your soul have a day out for a visit. It gets to get out for
a bit and discuss what has been going on and then there
are pictures too. Then after the post is over, the soul goes
back in and has to wait another day.
I don't know if that is how writers feel about the things
they give birth to on a piece of paper when they write
but if they do, then I sort of understand.

Rainy Day

One of my kids must have got on the roof and
took this picture. I know I didn't because I try
and give the illusion I live in the country and really
I live in the middle of a oil field. So what you see
are the refinery's and gas plants and all kinds of
industrial things.

Maybe that is why I am currently in love with this
movie. North and South

It is all about industrial England in the 1850s and
the cotton mills. I could watch this over and over.
It rates up there with Bleak House in the costume
design as well as the choice of actors they chose
for the movie. Next to Dickens, Elizabeth Gaskell's
is another of my favorite authors.
Elizabeth Gaskell
She was also a serial writer who wrote as Dickens
wrote and she wrote for his magazine. I have
had a hard time tracking down her books but
due to popularity and the BBC they are getting
easier to find, though in our library system they have
one book of North and South.
The music is haunting and very well produced.
Though it was not ever released as a CD.
It is a excellent movie to curl up with and watch
on a rainy day.

Planting Bulbs and Peonys

I have been trying all week to plant the bulbs and
peony's I bought on Sunday, um was it Sunday?
It may have been Saturday, it has been too long
and too much of life has moseyed on by.
I have worked in my flowerbeds almost every day
except today of course because it was baby day.
On Wednesdays, I get to be a Gama and play and
hold babies and do a Bible Study with my girls.

You know that poem that goes, " Come grow old
with me for the best is yet to be?" Well it is very
true to have the comfort of a husband who has
put up with me almost 30 years, and now to have
grown and almost grown young people and now
with five grand children, it is so good.

That verse that says, We have planted and watered
but it is God who gives the increase. I am so aware
that with anything, flowers or people or anything
it is all dependent on the mercy and grace of God.

I am wandering all over the place in this post. I can
hear the wind chimes blowing out on the front porch,
which means the promised storm must almost be
here so It might be another day before I get my bulbs
planted.
