Spring Fever

Now that the rain is past, today the wind is blowing and is acting like a real March. The trees really need the wind to open their baby leaves. The wind chimes are singing quietly in the cold. I am so thankful for this nice warm house. I think it will be a perfect day to stay inside and hook and sew.

I have finished binding two rugs. I will give them a good steaming and I will start the third one today. The two biggest rugs will take awhile. Once I get started binding rugs, I like it, especially today because its cold.

Daffodil by God
I have really have enjoyed listening to books lately. I am in the third book of David Copperfield read by Richard Armitage. Then while I was walking around taking pictures, I started listening to The Scarlet Pimpernel read by Karen Savage from Librovox. I love the book The Scarlett Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy. I have to say listening to Karen Savage read it is a treat. My French is so poor, its a treat listening to the narrator say the correct pronunciation is so nice.

Ron's Japanese maples are so pretty this time of year. I love how read they are in the spring. The one thing that is so nice about Japanese maples is they are red in the spring and red in the fall. I just love seeing their tiny new red leaves this time of year.

Ron bought a new hat for me. I just have to show you it as some of you know when I leave a comment on your blog, it says my name is Farm Girl. So I am very partial to that name.

So now you know, I am authentic. It really is brand new, I like that it looks so worn.

I hope you have a lovely weekend. I am so thankful that this next week is Easter vacation. I am not going anywhere. I hope I get to get all kinds of weeding done this week. Right now, the weeds are in first place.
I hope this storm that has just left us doesn't turn into a crazy storm as it heads east.

Raining All Around

Do you know that poem by Robert Louis Stevenson?

Rain

The rain is raining all around,
It rains on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.

Its so nice to have rain. When the kids were really little and we had our first house, there was a old fashioned swing set in the back yard. The kind made out of heavy pipe and cemented in the ground. So Ron would push the kids way high on the swing sets and he would say poems like this from A Childhood of Verses by Robert Louis Stevenson. So now of course, when it rains, I hear those poems in my head too. He even put music to The Cremation of Sam Mcgee by Robert W. Service. I am pretty sure they can say every stanza of the poem. There is a link so you can read that great poem too.

When Ben and Megan were moving, I went over one day and she had this shawl sitting there.
She was just going to take it to Good Will because she just didn't have room to take it. I felt like someone had shot me through with an arrow. I told her I would take it. This pattern she designed herself after that picture of the butterfly, that I took pictures of one spring day that was coming out of its pupae. Isn't it pretty? So now I have a shawl. I love it.

I was able to work only one day on my Rabbit rug. I love this rug, and it pains me so much that I haven't been home long enough to work on it.

I have such scrumptious color for the back grounds. I can hardly wait to start that part. I found out something that shocked me about myself last week. I was looking in my rug cupboard for a Easter rug I had made. I started pulling rugs out, and I had five rugs I had not bound! Isn't that terrible? So instead of getting to hook, every minute I sit down, I pick up a rug and start binding. I had no idea I had done that, and not to mention, I have some rugs, I have no idea when I hooked them. I cannot remember one of them at all. It kind of scares me and makes me wonder where on earth my mind was last year, at least I hope these rugs are from last year.

Have I shown you my second quilt block? If I have I am sorry. I have enjoyed getting to make quilt blocks again.

Our Camellias are going crazy this year. I don't remember ever this bush going this crazy with blooms. Just think, I was going to take it out too. I guess it didn't want to be taken out.

I love cloudy days. Its too wet to work outside so I will sew to my hearts content today. I do have that itchy feeling of needing to be working outside but it is just too wet. I hope you have a wonderful Saint Patrick's day today.

Thank you so much for stopping by,
~Kim~

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

My Bittersweet Life

What a amazing week it has been. Ben and Megan finished up moving, selling and hitting the road. God was so good to me, as they were so tired from everything I had the joy of having them here until Monday evening. I think God knew how hard it was for me to open my hands and let them fly. I am afraid, that if I was a bird, I would be hanging on to the babies in the nest until the nest got too heavy and fell from the tree. Its bittersweet, in that I am so proud of them and all that they have accomplished in such a short amount of time. Here is the video she made about starting on this adventure.

I have thought, how many of us would be here if our forefathers had not decided to take a huge leap of faith and come to this land of ours. As far as you go back into both mine and Ron's family, all of them have gone looking for that dream. My Grandma once said, " NO thank you about going camping with us, she said, I did enough of that when I was young, I did not like cooking over campfires."

They were pulling out of the driveway. Everything accomplished and the dream begins. A modern day
covered wagon.

On Monday morning, I was walking the sun was coming up and it was cold. As I walked and I was praying. I have done so much of that lately. Do you know what God gave me. He gave me the gift of 10 robins in that tree. Ten!!! It made me so happy. We don't have robins here for some reason. They flew from tree to tree as I walked. The whole time. The ground was white with frost, so diamonds were sparkling in the sun and the grass was filled with jewels as well. It was going to be a blue sky for the adventure to begin. I was thankful.

I spent the afternoon with the boys while Mom and Dad were getting the trailer ready. Our youngest grandson, said, " Grandma, get a trailer and come with us and follow us on our trip." At that moment I was tempted let me tell you. His oldest brother had noticed my gray hair and said, " Grandma you have gray hair! Please don't die while we are gone." I promised him I would stay above ground until they got back.

I managed to get this picture which I just love. There had been a few sword fights going on, but then I saw this.

They were feeding the chickens and watching them. Freddy is so tiny (the rooster) that they love to watch him and hold him.

So its been my bittersweet week. I took Emilie shopping for her 27th birthday. My goodness! They are growing up so fast.  Grown, up so fast. This week is our oldest grandson's birthday too. He will be eleven.

I told Ron I don't know when but I am going to take a day off soon. I am so thankful though, that I have been given such a wonderful life. My Field of Dreams continues to have dreams to dream and lots of adventures and mountains to climb. Thank you for following along.

Therefore, since we have this ministry of God, we do not lose heart...We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this surpassing great power is from God and not from us. We are pressed on all sides, but not crushed;perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not forsaken;struck down but not destroyed.
2 Corinthians 4:1,7-9
