Post Mother's Day and Skunks!

I hope each and everyone of you had a nice Mother's Day.  On Saturday, we attended My nephew's wedding. It was lovely, but I didn't take a single picture. They forbid us to take Iphone pictures so I complied. I don't think I have ever seen so many photographers and videgraphers at a single wedding.
(Megan did film some so if you want to watch her video its here. )

Emilie did the flowers and I helped her set up earlier in the day. She does such a lovely job with flowers. I have become too sensitive to the sun it seems and this is the second time in less than a month I have over done it. We got home from the wedding and I was feeling woozy. I kept thinking it was from dehydration.

We have a skunk issue. A bad skunk issue. Here are some pictures that we got from the game came this week. (I know this is an odd way to change a topic, just stay with me.)

Cat or raccoon?
Daylight!!!
Its a freeway of activity. There are three for sure living under my shed.

Anyway back to Saturday night. We got home from the wedding, and the boys got home a bit later. They came in the house smelling like they got sprayed and they said that they must have drove right into it, the house was filled with the aroma. Which turned my too much sun headache into the migraine of the year. As early in the morning, I was driver of the big white bus, I thought to myself, " What a interesting way to be spending the early morning hours of Mother's Day. I began motherhood and all of the first trimesters doing what I was doing on Mother's Day."
I thought  it was interesting that my body is doing one thing and my mind is doing another. I thought of how motherhood is born of sacrifice. Giving of oneself always requires sacrifice.

Look what is blooming already? I love these white ones so much.
So not the way I thought I was going to spend Mother's Day. Its a new week though. One filled with lots of wonderful gifts I am sure. After yesterday, it was awesome to wake up this morning feeling like me and no pain. We have lovely clouds. I am going to have to be so careful I guess because for some reason sun and me are not friends.

This morning I am planting what I didn't get planted this weekend. Sunflowers and beets. Slowly but surely I will get my garden planted. I guess I will be wearing a hat from now on.

I hope you have a lovely week.

“It is a naive sort of feminism that insists that women prove their ability to do all the things that men do. This is a distortion and a travesty. Men have never sought to prove that they can do all the things women do. Why subject women to purely masculine criteria? Women can and ought to be judged by the criteria of femininity, for it is in their femininity that they participate in the human race. And femininity has its limitations. So has masculinity. That is what we’ve been talking about. To do this is not to do that. To be this is not to be that. To be a woman is not to be a man. To be married is not to be single – which may mean not to have a career. To marry this man is not to marry all the others. A choice is a limitation.”

A hat is a good idea and it does help. I got one a few years back and, when I remember to wear it, it helps a lot. Until my head gets hot and starts sweating. Then, I just go inside. LOL The sun and I stopped being friend around 5 years ago if not longer. I used to be one of those sun worshipers but no more. I'm glad the wedding was nice, sorry about the skunks. I can't believe the boys came in smelling like those things! It's such an awful smell. Did they bathe in tomato juice? Does that even work? LOL Glad you're feeling better. Stay in the shade!

Yes, you need a big straw hat AND a sunhat with that neck flap thing! I'm glad the wedding was nice though.
Those dang skunks and that fat raccoon. You need a robot to guard your house and out buildings.
I hope you have a good day. I have Noah Joe this morning while James and Mama go to a dentist appointment. Yesterday was busy so I will tell you about that later.
Love love love

Oh no I'm so sorry you had a migraine!! What an awful way to spend a Sunday. :( I can not believe how many skunks you have!! It's like a skunk exhibit lol.

That's a lot of skunks! And a raccoon? That can't be Linxy because there's no stripes on the body! Maybe that's the source of the strange tracks we've seen for so long.

Oh my goodness, you are really having a hard time with those skunks and now a raccoon too.... I think it would be worth while to call the pest control people.

I'm sorry that your Mother's Day was spoiled by too much sun and skunk smell.

I remember a time when I was going through the change, that I was unable to stand the heat or even a hot shower. I was always too warm even in winter, lol.

It sounds like a very nice wedding.

It's raining again today. A lot of my spring flowers have started blooming finally.

Hugs Julia

Between the skunks and the sun you have had too much excitement :-(

Please take it easy - yes, drink water! Wear a hat out there, and you might even put a wet cloth under the hat for a little air conditioning.

i think that is a new thing with weddings, no one is allowed to take pictures - i guess the bride wants to pick what people see!!!??

and this is skunk season here too, we always get them at the same time. "it's a freeway of activity", I LOVED THAT...and the one you're not sure of looks like a raccoon to me!!!

Skunks are the worst. We had possums under our deck one time. They hissed everytime we went up the steps. I am sorry the sun got to you.

Soo sorry to hear you had a nasty migraine on mother's day, and yet soo glad it's over and your back to normal. Yes, sun can be such an issue sometimes. Wear that hat, and be careful not to over do it out there. And those nasty skunks...we haven't any recently, but we have sure had our fair share too. Enjoy the rest of your week. Your attitude towards life is always inspirational!

I'm sorry your Mother's Day turned out that way! Skunks...yuck! Do you have any box traps? They love cat food and eggs. We caught ours almost right away.

Oh goodness, Kim! Too many, many skunks! Will you try to trap them or get out the shotgun? Raccoons can be terrible on new chickens and old chickens too. Yipes.

Sun. I love the sun and I don't mind the heat either, BUT I do wear a hat when I'm out in it especially for several hours of work. And I drink like crazy too and take a little bit of salt in my hand to retain that water. Do wear a hat dear lady!

I really like the quote. So many truths in it. So simple.
