A Final Week in April

Here we are at the final week of April. Then my goodness May. I need to sit and write a goal list for this summer. I managed to get a rug drawn on linen this last week. Kessie drew out the picture while she was here. She would like to draw out a whole series for me called Sassy Chicken Goes--- This first one in the series is called Sassy Chicken Goes to the Beach.

It just makes me laugh and I like rugs that make me laugh. I might have to dye some wool for this one.
I need some colors that will be a bit brighter.

I know I have done this rug at least four times. I have sold it every time. I think I would like to make it this time for me.

I have been going back to rugs I sold. I wish I hadn't sold so many of them. I guess I have sellers remorse.
Its been a very busy month. So many changes and so many exciting things. I hope you have a wonderful week.

I have to get to house cleaning, with the rain we are having a plague of ear wigs. I have cleaned and vacuumed every day and every morning it looks like I haven't. Every thing you move outside it will be working alive with them.

Happy Monday!

~Kim~

I love that chicken pattern and I bet it would be a popular series.
We always have lots of earwigs around the yard, my son even had some coming in his basement and asked me what to do. I gave him some earwig bait that I bought at a garden centre and it took care of his problem of earwigs in the house.
I usually get a few that creeps in but they are mostly outdoors. They hide under dark places to keep out of the light and mostly come out to eat at night. They are disgusting looking with their pincers.

Have a great week.
Hugs, Julia

Hi, Kim! I'm with you on wondering where April has gone! Never has a month passed as quickly as this one - not even shorter February! Your rug projects are always great! xo Nellie

I love Sassy Chicken! I think you left off her cool comb hairdo. Can't wait to see the final rug!

Sassy Chicken is a super idea! Do it! Earwigs? I had to look them up. Ew. I hate bugs anyway. We have roaches here and they are disgusting. We stay on top of them in our house but Charleston is known for horrid things.

OH! Kim, I just love Sassy Chicken, yes, you need to do a series about her, you might also need to right a book, that would be so fun, you write, and Kessie illustrate, wouldn't that be super cool! I so envy your gifts and talents!
Thank you for stopping by and for taking the time to leave me such a sweet note, I know I haven't blogged much this past year, but would like to really get back to regular posting, I so miss it and my friends, I am so busy trying to catch-up on the neglected projects, and that time just eludes me!I am inside today because It is pouring rain and we are having flash flooding in certain areas!
Much love,
Sue

Gosh, what does an earwig even look like? I love your rugs. How long does it take for you to make one? I made a latch hook project once for 4-H. It took me three years.

Your California growing season affords pleasant turf for the earwigs. We get them later. They are such odd little bugs with their scissor tails.
I love the robin on your "this time I'm going to keep it" rug.
Sassy Chicken is cute! I like her martini😂

Hi LOVE seeing all seems to be good with you. The sassy chicken drawing is just adorable and funny. Soo cute, and I could definitely see a series of these being very popular. I remember my parents once having a huge outpouring of earwigs and had some bug person come and tell us what they were. Ugly things thats for sure, lol. And their name? Don't really like that either, lol. Have a good week! And hugs and blessings to you!

Earwigs... They have always been despicable, but when one got into my father's ear...probably fell out of an orange tree... It actually crawled around for a few days and nearly drove him insane. He went to the doctor finally, who managed to get it out, but then it crawled away free! UGH to the nth degree!

I don't like birds or chickens but Sassy Chicken made me laugh, looking forward to seeing the finished rug. She could go many places, how about shopping with a big purse and straw hat?

Hello Kim . . . those sassy chicken patterns should be a big hit. Can't wait to see what else Sassy Chicken gets up to! And like many of your other commenters, I don't know what an earwig. Probably have seen them too but didn't know it. What an odd name they have. Somebody mentioned scissor tails, so I think I might know which bug it is. Can't imagine getting one in my ear - ick! I love your sunflower photo at the end of the post and wonder if mine will turn brown like that in the center. We shall see! Thanks for always stopping by and leaving your kind comments. Have a wonderful rest of the week.

I like the "keeper" rug too. And the Chicken Goes rug will be a fun bunch of rugs, I think. Hoping your earwigs go away.

Cutie pie chickens!
You should write a book as you go along with the designs for the illustrations.
It would be a wonderful grand children book, with an a story for each chapter.

i dusted some this morning, the robot vacuum is running, i love it so much. it does not end vacuuming by hand, but you don't have to do it as often. it is great for wood and tile floors as it picks up those daily dust bunnies!!!

i don't like those ear bugs, we get them in the summer and they are so creepy!!

i remember when you started selling your rugs, something you really wanted to do and you were so happy. i'm sorry that has turned a little!!

have a good day kim!!!

Darling, and darling rugs!! What a cute job Kessie did making the new rug series. I'm so glad that you are keeping some of them :)

I've been MIA, though you personally know that I did not fall off the planet **giggle**.
Trying to get caught up on my blog and "splain" my absence a bit.
Love your posts, and love all the great things you've got going on at your cute little farm.

I've watched a few of Meg's Youtube posts. Such a cute girl and what a darling family they have.
Does she have an electric pressure cooker?? If she doesn't I just know that with all the cooking she does, she would love one :)

Earwigs are not my favorite and they look fierce. One summer we had a huge infestation for about 3 weeks. I'll never forget it, I think it traumatized me !! Lol
Love the hooked rug and the fun chicken design.

I can't believe April has flown by so fast, and May is upon us. I love your rugs..each one so unique and pretty. I have seen several over the time I have been visiting your blog that I would have loved to have. I didn't know you sold them.
Have a blessed day. I am trying to catch up on my blog visiting and then I have to clean house for a birthday dinner tomorrow. It's good to have something to do because the bad storms are coming and I will be walking the floors anyway until they are past.
