Hello August!

August. What can I say. Okay one good thing. Maybe two. It only comes around only once a year. And its  the month before September.

I posted this on my Facebook. I thought you might laugh like I did.

Yesterday it was only 105. It felt like a nice spring day compared to how its been. Every day being 109-111. August the month when everything gets crispy crittered.  Hooking and anything to do with wool is at an all time low. I picked up my hook last week and just having the frame on my lap you would have thought I was working out with weights. I was so sweaty. The water in the pool is at 90.

I am working on His Eye is on the Sparrow. Well, that is not true exactly. I put in one design and then promptly sit for 30 minutes taking it out. I took one little motif out 4 times yesterday. I finally decided I would just wait until the whole thing is done on page two before I put it back. Since its August I took out fall designs I didn't do last year because of all of the rug hooking I was doing. I was looking at them right before bed, then the power went out. I just sat there in pitch black, wondering if I was going to spend the night in the 90 degree pool. Then the power came back on. It happens once a  day since its been so hot. I leave my computer off because its not good for it. My computer is ancient.

We didn't paint this weekend. It was so nice to not paint. The road work has made everything outside so dusty dirty that I washed and cleaned the cushions, tables and chairs. I washed the porches and the sidewalk. Of course today it will all get dirty again, but it was nice having it clean for a day. Ron chopped down a dead  tree and I started stacking firewood. I got the wood pile all straightened. He cut some of the stumps for tables out in the pasture for me.

I hope you have a lovely Monday, that your August is a nice one. In spite of it being well August.
I do hope it isn't too hot or muggy. About the best thing I can say for August is all of the back to school supplies are in the stores. I love all of those back to school pens and pencils and paper and notebooks.
Don't you?

Whoa ! 110 degrees on average? Not surprising August is not your favourite month! That's too hot to move!
Sending cooler wishes your way!

Hi Kim, stay cool. Maybe throw some ice cubes in that pool, huh? August is a good month to stay inside and maybe go through some items while sitting down. Reading old letters and cards from family and friends? Just a thought. Your sunflowers are beautiful and so bold.

I know, right? August is just sort of a month to endure. That's probably why school starts in August in AZ. The kids are inside anyway, so they might as well be at school. :-)

I love all the back-to-school supplies too but I sure am glad I no longer have to look at it seriously. :) It's ridiculously hot here and humid. We went to Lowes yesterday since designer daughter was in town so she could pick out the paint I need for the nursery at my house and one of the bathrooms and I thought I was going to die. Just walking to the car and then inside the store- it's like there was no AC. I'm over summer. At least I have the paint now and can do something inside! I finished my little rug. It's only a 10x10 that I will frame for a friend. Mother took it home with her yesterday to bind it because those instructions made no sense to me. LOL

Oh goodness, you do get quite a bit warmer then we do and I whine about it all the time, lol. Not sure what I'd do if it was that hot...guess I'd push through like everyone else. We have been averaging around 95 or so, but we are getting a break for a couple of days with some 88's, but then right back up in the nineties. August will be worse though [it ALWAYS is] and September isn't a whole lot better, lol. Just have to push through huh? Stay as cool as you can friend! Your sunflowers are gorgeous!

I'm not sure how it got to be August. It's pretty crispy in northern Ohio, too. All the rain seems to miss us...sigh. (But I'm sure we are much better off than you are.)
Hugs:)

I couldn't even look at a piece of wood, not alone stack it in that heat !!
We have friends that make giant 5 gallon ice blocks and dump several into their pool when the water gets to warm.

Oh wow, that's HOT! I started reading the other day, and got distracted. Imagine that! I'm ready for August to be over...although it means our son will be gone off to college and our daughter will be a senior in high school!! The long, relentless heat and humidity is draining. I wake up tired. I think a midnight swim would feel wonderful! Maybe that water would be a little cooler then??

WOW Kim, you have been having some extreme hot temps. I feel bad about complaining about our 101, July was extremely hot for us, but not like yours, I hope it cools for you soon.
One thing for sure the days are getting shorter,!

Every time I hear the phrase. "His eye is on the Sparrow I think of Ethel Waters singing that song, no one could sing that song like she could!
Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers , some days are better than others I am told it will take time, of course I get impatient, please continue to pray!
I would tell to cool off in the pool but a 90 degree pool would be like a sauna, so maybe a cool shower!~smile~ sending cool thoughts,
hugs,
Sue

Such on oppressive heat, day after day. I feel for you. Even your pool sounds hot!

When it's hot, I like to drink icy cold water with lemon or lime wedges in it and a little salt. Just makes me feel better.

Hang in there!

I feel for you, it's been in the mid to high nineties for several weeks, we finally got below 70 at night for the last few nights, but he humidity is stifling. Rain here and there has helped.
School started back here today. In 2012 the first graduates of air condition high schools, all 3 county ones, breathed relief that none of us ever knew before.
They send them back earlier every year, but give them all kinds of any breaks all year long. It honestly makes no sense.
Glad I am over it!
Hope you get your painting done soon,
I was driving down the road two days ago, the sun was burning my hands on the steering wheel through the windshield.
You must surely be well done. Hugs
Time does seem to pass more quickly as we go along.

You are TOUGH! I don't think I could bear the heat. I'd have to live in an ice bath.
