Picking and Packing Peppers

I hope that this weather this summer, means there is change coming to California. Today is just cool and beautiful and more like late September or October. Well, maybe not October. It is just wonderful. The wind is blowing, we have clouds and it is so delightfully cool.

I made this counted cross stitch and still trying to decide what I want to do with it. Maybe frame it I think as a good reminder to getting work accomplished.

Since I don't churn on Thursdays, why don't I just make jam, and can my produce that is coming out of the garden on Thursdays. Though if I had a cow, I think I would like to churn on Thursdays.

I picked this today. Minus the ones the skunks are eating. They are really enjoying tomatoes this year. Little varmints.
I picked this yesterday but had a swim and visit day with Megan and the boys. I am going to make pepper rings out of these. These are a hot, sweet banana pepper.

I hope they turn out to be nice pepper rings for sandwiches. I made one jar last year and they were incredible.

These flowers just love the heat. They just bloom so pretty. They can't stand weather below 60 degrees. In the winter we put them in our bathroom near the windows. This year, we put them out to early and they lost every single leaf. I thought they would die. We brought them back in the house and when the nights started staying above 70 degrees, we took them out again. They just thrive. In August, the garden shops at Lowe's and Home Depot, get them in. I try to keep myself at two. I just love how they grow.  Taking pictures this morning, I thought, well, maybe just one more.

I needed new beach towels. I knew that after the Fourth things would start to be marked down. I had a 40 dollar Kohls cash thing, so I went to Kohls and got beach towels. I hate shopping more than going to the dentist. I have been swimming so much this year that I thought I would just bite the bullet and go. So here they are in nice bright colors.

So this has been my mundane life this week. Now it is time to get a move on and make pickled peppers.
I finally have the house all open and it is just bliss to not have to have the air conditioning running. I am thankful for it, but I sure like it when I can just have the doors and windows open.
Happy Thursday!

It's really nice and cool here today, too. I was able to walk down to the store and grab a few items I needed--haven't been able to do that since May!

Nothing mundane about your life. It is magical!

glad you're getting some produce even with the skunks dining. :) the pups here had a skunk trapped under the deck one night. the smell is still lingering, but at least none of the dogs got hit this time.

Isn't it just delicious to have days like that in the summer....Here, I haven't had to shut the house up against the heat once in the last couple of months - but against the cold, yes! The last couple of weeks, I still have the windows open, but yesterday I kept *two* flannel shirts on almost all day!

Yes--finally someone who dislikes shopping as much as me (except for quilt fabrics)

So glad you are having a break in the hot, hot weather! I think we are quite spoiled with the a/c here. It is humming merrily along today with highs in the 90s expected. That is quite a harvest! It sounds like you are having a good week! xo Nellie

Great harvest from your peppers and tomatoes {so far..} !
I do hope that the varmints leave you plenty more to can!

Gorgeous flowers! Definitely not a flower you would see around these parts .

Glad you were able to get new beach towel, and it's always great to get a bargain.

Enjoy your cooler weather! Hope it's headed this way soon.

I love your mundane day and the wonderful plants, the towels so cheerful and the peppers, we used to grow them and I loved them.

I immediately thought of Peter Piper when you mentioned the pickled peppers. ;-)

I'm like you ... I'd rather go to the dentist than shop (and I hate going to the dentist!). That's why I prefer to shop online whenever possible. ;-)

I'm glad the weather has cooled off- please send that cold front this way! It's been in the high nineties lately and forecast for 100+ this weekend. Love your cross stitch.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Sorry I'm so late commenting. I start reading bloglovin from the top and have a difficult time getting through to the end without interruptions.
I'm so glad that you are finally getting some relief from high temperature. I find hot and humid hard to take.

What a very nice harvest. I have one tiny red tomato and I decided to leave it on the plant.

Your dessert rose looks so beautiful.
Love that cross stitch too. I used to follow a tight schedule years ago but now I do what I can, when I can.

Hugs,
