Odds and Ends

Today is a beachy kind of day. Overcast, cool, and perfect. Just the perfect kind of day for a Saturday.
Do you have any plans today? Do you celebrate Mother's Day, those of you that have Mothers? I am so thankful for the two young Mothers of my grandchildren. They bless my life. So Kessie and Megan, Happy Mothers Day! I hope you have a wonderful day filled with laughter.

I was given the gift of two Mothers. I am thankful for the gift of that. The first was my Mom for 11 years, and then the second, a bit longer. My birth Mom was gone five months when my Dad remarried a woman with three boys. We went from a home with three children to a home with six. I am thankful for the gift of hindsight. I will just leave it with they did the best with what they knew to do and I am thankful to God for allowing things like that in my life. It makes every day I have today a blessing.

I wanted to make some pillows yesterday. I wish I could figure out why I have to experiment. So yesterday I made pillows, first I printed a graphic, then I tried to attach it using Mod Podge, then I used that iron on stuff and then I used graphic paper and copied the design. I drew the sheep pillow with the french words. My final attempt was to take the fabric and put it in my printer and print straight onto the fabric. That was a bit more never wracking as I was afraid I would wreck the laserjet printer. It worked okay. I like that it looks old. So I got my pillows. I will try again soon though as I am not quite happy with these. They need to be bigger.

I have been on a bee kick lately. I guess, I am wishing I had bees again. I did enjoy all of that honey and I think this time I would get that new honey hive that you can get your honey straight out into a jar. Anyway since I don't have bees here a few things I have been working on.

Pattern by Country Stitches

My little rug, I named it Summer Breeze
This is on my frame, its name is In The Summertime
My latest little rugs. My counted cross stitch is for my wash board. I hope to get lots more done this next week.

I hope you have a lovely weekend,
~Kim~

"The wind is tossing the lilacs,
The new leaves laugh in the sun,
And the petals fall on the orchard wall,
But for me the spring is done.

Beneath the apple blossoms
I go a wintry way,
For love that smiled in April
Is false to me in May."

Tomorrow will be a beach you day for me. 😎 My childhood wasn't what I would have chosen, but it made me who I am, and I'm thankful for that. Happy Mother's Day.

You have been a busy bee yourself. I'm amazed at the rooster and sheep pillow. Very nice. I've always wanted to print on fabric but I'm so afraid to jam or damage the office printer that I don't dare because I use it for the farm business all the time.

Maybe it's time for you to try raising bees again.

You have turned out just wonderful with the two moms God gave you and you even prospered into a large family. I know that no one can ever replace your biological mother, she will be your mother for all time.

You are so right, your parents all gave you what they could and knew how and you are wise enough to realize that.
Happy Mother's Day Kim. I miss my mom too.
Hugs,
JB

Those hives are about 600 bucks, so, a bit of an item to save for? I'll bet it would raise healthy bees, though. And now you know everything what not to do. And think of the flower garden you could plant for them!

I got my 7 pack of GT and the Halo Express CDs today, and I'm busy copying them to mp3. I am SO excited to have these in high quality. :-D :-D Happy mother's day to you, too!

Ah, I take it back--the 600 was top tier for their Indiegogo campaign. No idea what it'll cost once the store is up and running. :)

How busy you were, Kim!

My mother passed away in 1983, and she is in my thoughts daily. She definitely had a positive effect on my life, and I am thankful for good memories.

Happy Mother's Day to you! xo Nellie
