Trying to do Normal

Here is is Monday again. I keep telling myself I must be getting well as my floors are driving me nuts. I have now spent one week sounding like an escapee from a T.B. Ward. It has been about seven years since I had anything like this, my thought is over and over I am missing spring. I made myself go outside with my camera.
We have had such lovely days, that I stare out the window at, but yesterday, I couldn't stand it and put a lawn chair outside and let my chickens in the yard. Best medicine I think. Watching chickens.

Megan got baby chicks at her house. So now I have grand chickens too. :) As soon as I recover, I will be visiting her chicks. Yes, play on words there.

I wish I had some exciting news to tell. I don't. All I can see is the work that the list is getting longer and longer. This is my spring training time of year and  I am weak as a kitten. I will get these floors at least vacuumed today. That is something I think.

Can you see this Hydrangea? This thing is taller than me. We might have had one frost this year so the hydrangeas never had a freeze, so they are so huge and pretty now. Prepare yourself for the rest of this year to hear the droning on and on about California and no water. I read about five stories the other day online.
Do you know that when I was a kid, we would have droughts that lasted 10 years. If this is the fourth year, we have quite a while to go. Cycles happen. I am so disgusted with the whiners we have become. I put myself in that list, because I started this post whining about being sick. I think behind our lack of water in this state is always greed. Do I have a solution? Not really, but I think if everyone was willing to do a little and a little then it would all add up. The golf courses don't want to stop watering, the parks nor do I so it all comes back to that idea. Thinking of others more than yourself. Anyway, end of soapbox.

Have a wonderful week, I hope all of your days are sunny and bright. I hope to be back to my ole happy self soon.

Granny always said, There will be work when we are dead and gone, sometimes you just have to go fishing! I am glad you sat outside, enjoy the moments. Work will get done.

i think you're right about the greed mindset commanding most things these days. glad you had some time in the yard with your chickens! you need to do more of that!

ooo kim, i am wishing you strength and happiness. chuck helped me vacuum yesterday, we had "dust rabbits" on the wood floors, it was embarrassing!!! but i do "play" when there is work to be done. i take my glasses off , so i can't see it and i play!! i like clean, it feels rewarding but sometimes you just have to skip a week!!!

You need to let yourself rest so this virus can go away. Housework can wait. Sit in the fresh air and enjoy your chickens

Poor girl! Coughing is so exhausting. I hope your cough will go away soon. I wish a house fairy would come clean your floors. Get well soon, friend!

You must have had a very rough strain, sounds awful. But I hope the fresh air will work wonders and you can go see the chicks!

Let the dust bunnies run around free for now until you get stronger. Everybody has them and it's really no big deal. What matters is to get well and strong again. That must have been a real nasty virus.

Sitting in the sun and watching the chickens is about the best you can do for yourself.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hugs,
JB

Happy Spring Kim, I hear you about wanting to clean etc. Today is my 6 week mark since my surgery and I still can't vacuum or clean floors; even trying to pull some weeds yesterday strained my legs and I was sore. We have had such wonderful warm weather and I love being outside. Hope you are back to yourself soon.
Hugs, Noreen

It's wonderful that you were able to get outside, and enjoy some sunshine!
With your 'furball', cleaning floors is a big job, and an accomplishment***smile**.

I am of the same mind-set as you, when it comes to drought and water. In Utah, we live in a desert and it seems as though everyone thinks we live in the tropics. Hello people...... it's going to be dry, and we are going to have droughts.
I have personally witnessed a neighboring farm watering with wheel lines for 3 days and 3 nights straight in the same area.... on a grass field. Huh... didn't know that grass has roots that run down to China! Cus' certainly, after watering that long, in one spot, that's exactly where all that water went.
OK.. so, getting down off my soap box now.....

Grand chicks- how cute! My exciting news is that I didn't smack anyone of these people living in my house today. Ha! I love hydrangeas. I used them in Reni's table decorations for her bridal luncheon. They remind me of my grandmother. But then, so does everything about spring.

I'm sorry you're still so sick! We must have really worn you down. This flu does take weeks to get over. I think it took me a straight week of probiotics to get my stomach right again. I was a walking yeast colony.

I sure hope that you start to feel better SOON. It took me a full 2 1/2 weeks before I started to feel like doing anything - and I had just a sinus infection. And even now, I'm still not 100% - no energy.

I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. It's no fun being ill when spring is happening all around you! I always find that sitting outside in the sun is good medicine.

What is that flower at the end of this post? The red, spiky one? Beautiful!
