Just Hooking Rugs

I just had to tell you how much this November is so brilliant and perfect and breath taking.  I can't get over the colors. Last year, I couldn't see orange, yellow, or red. So when I would look at the trees what I saw was this brown nicotine color because of the cataract being so yellow. I stood yesterday staring at the trees and seeing these colors. A flicker flew into the tree and I could see his red and white and black. I couldn't see him last year either. I drove down a road yesterday and all of the trees are red and orange and last year I thought that something was wrong with the trees. It is just an amazing November.

I have been hooking rugs. I am loving this. I love working with my hands and I feel so blessed to be able to do this now.

Here is a chicken rug I finished this week, well except for the binding. That will take another day.

I do like hooking chickens! I dyed the wool and I am still learning about dyeing and all of that. I make notes about what I mix and stuff but I still never manage to get the same colors twice. Using the dye pot is very serious business. Just changing the amount of the water, can change so much. It is still fun though.

Here is my guinea rug and I love this one. I really do think I will do more guineas. They really make me happy. I would love to have a flock of them. Such funny birds.

I just have that outside edge then I can get it steamed and bound and finished. I have designs going around in my head and I drew out patterns and I know I have way more rugs that I want to hook than my hand would hold out for. It is sure fun though.

It is a lovely cloudy day today. Another perfect hooking day. I hope you have a great day.
Thank you so much for stopping by. Thank you so much for being such good friends to me, by stopping by and visiting and leaving your sweet comments. You have no idea how much I treasure them.

Have a lovely day, stay warm,

~Kim~

Your rugs look really nice! Does the guinea have white speckles close up? I can kind of see them. I'm so glad you can see all the colors this year. Last year was sooo sad.

wow, I like that Guinea hen rug. I like the white background, the yellow sunflower, and that sort of swirly design on the right side. I didn't know you had cataracts last year, but I have just started following your blog. Thanks be to God for giving you a brand new bright year and success in your creative endeavor!

The fall is beautiful Kim and the colors this year seem even more brilliant than before.
I love the chilly weather it simply gives energy for doing things and a desire to take a walk again.
The rugs are beautiful. I used to hook rugs too . I am hoping to get back to doing these things again too.
Blessings dear and wishing you a beautiful Thanksgiving season. Catherine

You have more rugs to hook than you'll ever be able to hook ... I have more quilts than I'll be able to make. What fun we'll have trying to get to them all, eh?

Yes you sure do have some beautiful colors over there, and I am SOO glad you are able to see them this year! We only got u[p to 65 yesterday...a full on "coolish" day for us, lol. Kind of gloomy and overcast too adding to the feel that winter is looming. LOVE your rugs, especially that second one you are working on. Enjoy your week-end sweet Kim!

Brilliant was my October but November has been snow, sleet, cold and more snow, sleet and cold. 6 inches of snow the first weekend of Nov and more snow last night, today, tomorrow and so on through the next few days. The wood stove is "on" and my computer is working...again...hopefully for more than a day or two. Your rug is lovely...keep on keeping on!
