Just Chatting

Did you get to see the eclipse this morning?  I woke up at 3:30 and went outside. It was pretty nice to see it and then watch it through the binoculars. I felt much better when it was past and the moon was bright again. It is a very pretty moon don't you think?

I keep thinking I will get some new rugs drawn out. I have a lovely fall pattern I would like to hook before fall turns into that mad rush before Christmas. I had a request from someone who wanted me to put some more chicken rugs in my store.

I have always loved art and drawing and painting. I love making things. The problem is,  the voices in my head. The voices in my head are my biggest critics and thankfully, being surrounded by encouraging, creative and talented people, the voices are beginning to get quieter. The other day, when the lovely lady gave me a five star review in my store. I felt like I had been given such a gift. The voice that says, " Never in all of the years I have taught art, have I had a student without one drop of artistic talent." Then someone who asked for something I drew. I tell you, I laugh and laugh to myself.

I have a friend who had written about 15 books. She said one day that every time she publishes a book she remembers her English teacher who said, " She would never be a writer she didn't have the skills or the brains." When I was a young Mom and my then four year old daughter brought me a drawing. I said, " Oh those are nice ants." She looked crushed and said, " They aren't ants Mom, they are people." To this day, she has the hardest time drawing people. She hears my comment in her head. I think today, how easy it is to give compliments and say nice things. Why do you think people like to say and live in a negative way to other people? I have been thinking of this a lot.

I always am glad when I realize that it is Wednesday. One of the bloggers that I would say has been my friend the longest as a blogger. I am always so happy because she  posts on Wednesday, " Whistlers on Wednesday, The Run *A* Round Ranch, keeps me on track with the days.

I hope you have a lovely day.

~Kim~

Windy Nights
Whenever the moon and stars are set,
Whenever the wind is high,
All night long in the dark and wet,
A man goes riding by.
Late in the night when the fires are out,
Why does he gallop and gallop about?

Whenever the trees are crying aloud,
And ships are tossed at sea,
By, on the highway, low and loud,
By at the gallop goes he,
By at the gallop he goes, and then
By he comes back at the gallop again.

my first visit and I truly enjoyed it. Love your pictures and the poem. I agree, have heard similar stories about unkind words. Sometimes though they are teaching tools as we know what not to say.

I love Whistlers on Wednesdays, too! She's a good blog friend, that TexWis!
You are a good artist and you must keep on enjoying your artistic talent! Yay for a five star review!

Have a happy day, good Kim!

oh, you're so cute! here i was just reading along about rugs and art and how criticism sticks with you - sometimes for life - then you sneak in a whistler reference. :) thanks, dear one!

and i'm glad folks are requesting more chicken rugs. they really are delightful.

Those whistlers are SO cute!! I LOVE your zinnias too! It's interesting what we remember. In middle school my phys ed / health teacher told the whole class that " although Alica is thin now...and I was skinny..., I know her family and she will struggle with her weight all her life!" It's 35 years later and I have never forgotten that...or her!

I love your pictures today, they are so pretty. Isn't it funny how we're always our own worst critic? We've think we've made things that are so horrible and ugly, but everyone else thinks it's fantastic. And I've learned not to say "oh, that's a great picture of X" to the kids haha. I just say "Oh, that's awesome! Good job!" so I don't get in trouble for saying it's the wrong thing. ;)

I saw the blood moon this morning.
So beautiful !
Sit down at the table and draw out those designs that are floating around in your head. You will be so glad you did ;)

I did not see the moon this morning; though I am sure it was beautiful.
You have such a beautiful attitude and I am happy for the compliments you got for your store. I am sure they are deserved.
Blessings, Catherine

Oh drat, I missed the eclipse.
I did look at the moon around midnight, about the time I went to bed :)

I am so happy that you received a five star rating, but as I told you, I am not one bit surprised!!
I have to say that your rugs are even prettier in person that they are in pictures.
The pictures can't do them justice :)

Yes, we really need to be aware of our words and not use them to hurt others.
I would feel terrible if I were ever the reason that someone felt hurt, or shed tears.

Kindness counts.

Smiles :)

Perfect poem by Stevenson!

We do have to be so very careful with our words, don't we? Without intending to do so, we could dash the dreams of others. I like to try to be as quiet as possible.:-) That's a laugh! LOL

A great post again Kim. I'm not surprised that the want more chicken rugs. You're right about us being our own worst critique. I'm never satisfied of what I hook either. I can always find some imperfections and think that someone else could have done way better than me.

I saw the moon last night and it was beautiful. I needed my sleep so I went to bed and got up to a very foggy morning.

That Theresa of TexWisGirl is such nice blogger friend. I commented that I would like a video with sound of the Whislers today and she emailed me a link to a video she made earlier. They sounded more like spring baby chicks. I was expecting more of a quack because they are ducks. lol...
Have a nice rest of the week.
Hugs,
JB

I love that RLS poem! It was one of my favorites from Garden of Verses to read to the children - such a great read-aloud.
You really have a lot of zinnias, don't you!?

Such well taken photos. I am almost ready to go out to the pumpkin farm, and your photos speed up my readiness.

I sometimes remember it's Wednesday when I am laying in bed!! Speaking of bed, that's where I was for the eclipse, turning from my right side to my left ;-)

I'm a member of a quilting group on Facebook ... and another member posted a quilt with what she said had a huge error in the design. Well, I looked and I looked and couldn't find it. It got me to thinking that if I knew there was a mistake and looked hard to find it and couldn't, how many who didn't know there was a mistake would even notice? And that reminded me that when I've made a mistake in my quilting/sewing, is anyone but me going to notice? I think not (especially if I don't mention that I've made an error). The same is true for your rugs, Kim.

I do like that crock. Here, a red fox is downsizing my cat population, my goldfish population as well. They are wily creatures, those red foxes. I've been hearing hoot owls, love listening to them call in the night. No sense looking for the moon lately; it's raining all night long around here.
