Happy Tuesday!

I hope today is a wonderful Tuesday for you.  We have a storm coming hopefully some rain that will settle the dust. The chicken house is coming along very nicely. I thought I would share with you some of the progress from this weekend.

It is going to be such a nice little house, I keep telling Ron that it is too nice for chickens. The wind blows through the trees out there and it is so peaceful and quiet. I have a fascination with those teeny-tiny houses that people are living in and I could see how this one would be perfect for a tiny little getaway.

The nest boxes will be right here. It will have a little door to lift so I can just reach in and get the eggs without having to go into the hen house.

He reused one of the windows from the fort he tore down for the window here. The man door is big and nice so I can clean it easier than the one I have now. I would love to have a Dutch door on it but chickens don't need a Dutch door. I love those things.

Here is the little hen door. It will have a door on it too so I can lock them in at night. I have a door now on my coop and they don't like to be locked in much. The hot wire has worked so well I am not sure if we will have one on this one yet. We used the book Building Chicken Houses for Dummies. It is a good thing Ron isn't a dummy. There are so many errors in the plans that he has had to re-engineer so much of the plans. He finally said that the plans in the book were maybe just guidelines.

We went out at sunset last night and picked some pomegranates. They are very nice this year. My chickens love to eat these. I like to pick the ones that have split and take those to the chickens. I love watching them pick out seed by seed and smack their beaks as they taste the juice. It makes me laugh. They get a faraway look in their eyes as they first taste the juice.

Yesterday the boys told us they found a new T.V. show for us to watch. I am in no way endorsing  this show for the record. Ron wanted to watch it, so we found this show called Sleepy Hollow. Since I love the story by Nathanial Hawthorne, I thought well okay. I had nightmares all night. I don't do well with head chopping.
Any way it was dark and We live back from the road and we don't get many people who come all the way down the driveway. I was already creeped out from that silly show, when someone rang our doorbell.
Ron went to the door, and it was this woman who comes to our door at weird times. She always asks for someone named Gordon. She turned and left and walked off out to the fields. They put in a park at the end of the street and now we have the weirdest things going on now.  Do you notice where you live that times are just getting stranger and stranger?

Anyway, I hope you have a lovely day, here is keeping my fingers crossed for rain, and clouds.

~Kim~

Good morning! WOW The chicken house is coming along beautifully. How nice this is going to be for the chickens and for you! lol We had pomegranates in a big tree by the house we rented when we were first married, and the landlady used to make cookies out of them that were sooo delicious. I have no idea how she did it, but they were soo good! Haven't seen one since then though...hope we get rain, I am soo in the mood! Enjoy your day!

What a nice chicken coop! I like the way you will be able to get the eggs without going inside! I hope you do get some rain today!

The chicken house is looking so cute! I'm glad Dad knows how to fix the plans. I've heard really mixed opinions of Sleepy Hollow. It's too horror for the fantasy lovers and not enough story for the horror fans. Everybody just wants Grimm back. Have you tried Agents of Shield? It's much lighter. Just superheroes and crazy Avengers stuff.

I bet the chickens can't wait to move in. ;) That is too weird about your visitor!! She must be short a few marbles. My husband came home yesterday evening and said he had to call the HP as he found a woman about 90+ years old out in the median of the highway, in the middle of nowhere, staring up at the sky. :/ Thankfully he didn't just ignore her.

I can see why you were spooked. First the show ,then some strange lady appearing at the door!
Your chicken coop looks like it's been carefully thought out. Do you think the chickens will find their new home strange or do they adjust easily?

That is a gorgeous chicken coop !! We need to make another coop next Spring as our flock has grown.
My, I would be a bit spooked about the woman that comes to the door ... eek !

You have a woman come ask for a Gordon? Like, she does this repeatedly? What on earth? That's a little crazy... Maybe you should tell her he moved and give her some random forwarding address so she can bug someone else! Hehe. I like your chicken house, it's looking really nice. Are you going to paint it any special colors?

Awesome new chicken coop. It will be nice to have one designed just the way that works for you :)
Sorry about the creepy encounter.
I'm super careful about what I watch, and what shows I allow in the house.... I do not want to have eerie dreams, or dark thoughts.
Gratefully, we live in a pretty laid back, slow paced kind of place.
Although, about 10 or 11 yrs ago, we had someone try to break into our house ( in a different small town that we used to live in---not here) ! Yikes!! Thankfully, we have a big dog... and it doesn't hurt that half of our family is in law enforcement, and they can track someone, better than a blood hound! That guy that tried to break in ended up spending quite a bit of time in prison.

That chicken coop is almost as nice as our house! Your hens will be living high on the hog, won't they? Seriously, that coop is looking good! Did you get the rain you were hoping for?

Love how your chicken coop is coming along, Kim, I loved reading Sleepy Hollow , but the program is to scary for me. Hope you are having a great fall, I am still so busy, and haven't had time to blog.
Hugs,
Sue

Wow! I love the new hen house, how great.
I'm wondering what a far away juiced look, looks like, grin!
yes, things are getting stranger all the time ,
we just have to pray, I think for wisdom & discretion on how to handle all the strange things and people .I know I need both!
have a wonderful week!

The chicken coop looks beautiful. I bet that you would like to be a little girl again and use the coop as a play house. I'm anxious to see how the chickens will react to moving into the new coop.

I wonder if that woman has Alzheimer or she is checking out the place for something to steal. We keep our doors locked when we are out and the security alarm activated. nice weather this week.

I hope that you have some nice weather this week.
Hugs,
JB
