First Day of School and Other things

I hope you had a lovely weekend. It was beautiful here, well except on Friday night when the power went out and was out 12 hours. We sat outside until it was too dark to see and the power still wasn't on. We went to bed and it finally came on at 2:15 A.M. We cooked dinner on the BBQ and I lit the candles and it was nice to see the house by candle light. I sure missed air conditioning though. All day Saturday, every time it came on I said Thank you to God for electricity. Having power really does make life easy and I am so sorry I take it for granted. The reason for a power outage? Scheduled Maintenance. As my husband and I were talking about we had the idea that  it was some programmer working on a live system installing upgrades and tried to take a shortcut.

Here is the pictures of the unbuilding.

Now the piles of lumber and other good stuff.

The lovely windows that he built for the play house have so many possibilities in my little crafty mind as does this pile of very nice used wood.

Here is a picture of the plans for the new chicken house. It is large enough for 30 hens. Which I don't have that many but I can now once this is built.

He is going to use one of the windows from the play house and I want to see if he will use the dutch door he made for the play house too. This will have a covered yard and then a bigger outside yard that I can let them out in. They will have no more access to the whole yard anymore. Which is good.

Well off to watch my boys leave this morning. Then I will rattle around this place. I am glad it is Monday because I have so much work to do today.

Have a great day,
~Kim~

It's a little sad to see the playhouse demolished. I think you should use some of that wood to make a fancy sign for the new chicken mansion.

I'm sure it's bittersweet, to see that playhouse coming down! But time marches on, doesn't it?! It's the first day of school here too...both in high school this year. Speaking of time marching on....! I hope you have a wonderful day, rattling around. :)

Great plans for the chickens! Time does move on, doesn't it. :(

Great work. You could get 15 new chickens every spring and keep them in rotation!

I am glad to see you saved every piece.

Gonna be a great hen house.

Yes, we have definitely become quite dependent on the convenience of electricity. Twelve hours is a long time for a power outage, though!

That new chicken house is a beauty! That should make them very happy!

Have a good Monday!

Wow, that's really weird seeing that corner empty. Did dad really need to climb on the roof? That picture made my stomach turn. You new little chicken house will be so nice!

That is the neatest demolition I've ever seen and good for you for pilling all that wood in neat piles. You two work good together. I know that you'll be pleased to have a nice more efficient chicken coops for your chickens and they will be happy too.

It really makes us realize how dependent we have become to electricity when the power goes off.
I'm glad that the power was restored. It's not so good for the freezer though. When that happens I throw wool blankets over the freezer to keep things frozen.

My daughter and son in law and the boys are back here from PEI . James was happy to be back at Mamoo's place.

Hope you have a great week.
Hugs,
JB

I showed the kids the demo pics, and Holly got very teary, Alex, too. But without anybody there to play with it, it'll just rot and fall down anyway. I tried to explain this. Are you just going to rebuild it with old wood?

I'm so glad that so much can be used from the playhouse to make a new coop. And I hope you can make use of the windows as I'd love to have even one!
Have a lovely day

Oh your soo right. Thank God for electricity! Can you imagine all the poor people who live without air in this HOT state we live in? Soo hard. Love the plans for the new chicken house. They will all be living in style that's for sure. Can't wait to see it come together. Hope you had a good day!

Your chicken house is going to be so cute! More hens! Yay! Did you get lots of work done today, Kim?

Like you I have taken electricity for granted especially when I didn't have it. There have been times when it was out and we went to bed, we would wake up in the middle of the night with lights on all over the house. LOL
Love the new plans, and so nice that you salvaged so much of the play house for other uses, and the memories will find a new home. Smile! Hugs,
Sue

How nice you're going to re-use the lumber from the old play house; well done!

I'm glad you will have the fun of keeping even more hens - what breeds will you add?

Wow - what tidy demolition. That's one awesome-looking chicken coop! I can't wait to see it when it's done.

Wow, 12 hours without power this time of year? Whew! Thank God indeed for electricity and for air conditioning.

That is the tidiest unbuilding I've ever seen! I love those neatly stacked timbers. 30 hens! You will be very busy collecting all those eggs.
