Rugs I finished

I have a few rugs to show you that I finished this weekend. Of course the edges aren't finished because hooking isn't so bad in the heat but holding the rug in my lap to finish the edges it just too much. I mean I am already a sweat factory.

This pattern is from the book Garden Gate Threads. The design is done by Maggie Bonanomi. It is called Mother Earth.

This is the 1820 Sunflower. The pattern is from Cathy Greschner designer. Her blog is The Orangesink.
Her selling site is Red House Wool Studio. She is one of my favorite designers and my favorite thing is the little note she sends when you buy a pattern. I keep them all.

I also made time this weekend to finish little Miss Fancey Blackett. I think up all kinds of stories in my head of the adventures of Fancey Blackett and the butter churn. I really did enjoy the little sunflowers. Since I really don't have that many in my garden it is just as fun to stitch them.

When my kids were young one of my favorite authors to read aloud for them was Bill Peet. He was a early illustrator for Walt Disney. His work is distinctive once you know it in the old movies like Dumbo. I always enjoyed reading his books aloud and he had a couple of stories with little witches. I always enjoyed them and Fancey here reminds me of some of them.

The current rug I am working on is from the book Pumpkin Patch Threads. The design is by Renee Nanneman. I don't normally hook like this I prefer to hook the background as I go so I am not doing miles and miles of background but for some reason I did it that way this time. I am kind of glad as it is mindless and I can talk to people as I work.

It is so nice to be working on fall again. I just love the colors of fall. I can't wait to finish this one and then all I have left to finish before I draw new patterns is my whale by Polly Minick. If feels so nice to get my shelves cleared off of old projects. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit my blog and look at my work.

Have a great week.

Kim, you are doing so well with your rug hooking...and having fun with it, too. That's great! Keep up the good work there...and on the cross stitching and all the other crafty things you do.

You are certainly diligent! We are going on a trip next week...be gone for 10 day. When we get back, I plan to finish some things I've started! We will see how that goes! :-)

You have been busy with your hand stitching and hooking. I love the the sunflower and the pumpkin and crow rugs. Your pumpkin one will be ready in plenty of time for Fall.

I'm hooking a little bit everyday and I knit a little too and it's very slow going.

Hugs,
JB

You have such a nice collection of rugs...you do nice work!! Speaking of Bill Peet...is he the same guy that wrote the Caboose That Got Loose? That was one of our son's favorite all time books!

Nice work! I remember reading Bill Peet books to my kids too. They were fun. I love the last rug with the crow and pumpkins. I love them all, but especially that one.

I thought, "Ann you have lost it", so I deleted my previous comment.. I'm tired I can't spell a lick. When my son was 5 before kindergarten, he had surgery that summer. We read over 2,000 books that summer. I always loved kids books!

I love your work, the rugs, and Ms. Fancy, I love the little sunflowers. Autumn is just around the corner, I love seeing the fall designs begin to come out to play. Have a great week!

I just love looking at your needlework Kim, the details amaze me, you truly are gifted. I am like you looking forward to fall, I was looking at a tree this morning and asking Dh if it looked liked the leaves were turning a wee bit, he just smiled and indulged me. ~smile~
I have got a lot of catching up to do, and hopefully between tonight and the weekend I can. lol. I am almost caught up on my canning just a few blueberries to deal with, and then in a few weeks the apples and grapes. ~smile~ As you know farm work never gets really caught up!.
Hope all is well, since the wedding, I don't think we have chatted since, it has been a busy summer here, we have had to replant our garden 4 times, the temps. have been great, but the rain destroyed so many crops. i saw on the news that cal. was dealing with very high temps. I guess it has been unusual for all.
Enjoy your evening, Hugs,
Sue

They are just beautiful. I did a whole series of teaching to my first graders on Bill Peet! His web site is also great and I admired his wife and her support of his career.
