...And the Heat is On...

I just wanted to say hi and hope you are having a nice weekend. I am pretending I am on a vacation at a resort. I decided I would swim instead of complain about the weather. It is only going to be 107 today. Where my daughter lives it is going to be 114 so it isn't so bad for me. Here is our weather picture for the next week.

  • Tonight Mostly clear, with a low around 80. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming south southeast after midnight.
  • Sunday Sunny and hot, with a high near 109. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

  • Tuesday Sunny and hot, with a high near 109. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the morning.
  • Tuesday Night Partly cloudy, with a low around 81. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast in the evening.

  • Independence Day Sunny and hot, with a high near 104. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the morning.
  • Thursday Night Mostly clear, with a low around 76. North northwest wind 10 to 15 mph decreasing to 5 to 10 mph in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.
  • Friday Sunny and hot, with a high near 103. East southeast wind around 5 mph becoming west in the morning.

My garden loves it and every thing is growing very nicely. I am so thankful for air conditioners. It makes me wonder how people did it without them.

Have a lovely Saturday,
~Kim~

I promise not to complain about our weather here in the midwest. Unfathomable...114 degrees! ugh.

Look at your gorgeous zinnia, Kim! Wow...they are beautiful!
I don't know how you stand the heat...except that I'm guessing the humidity is lower than here! Eric is travelling to Phoenix with the youth group next week, and it's to be HOT...in the 109-115 degree range, I believe. Hope the air conditioning is working! :)

Before air conditioners people where smart and didnt live in Bako. >.>. I am so not looking forward this heat. I am glad we have the air conditioner too, and have a feeling we'll be inside a lot tonight. It's this time of year that I really hate where we live and want to move to Alaska.

Yeah, my MIL was telling me that Pheonix didn't start developing until the 50s, i.e. when air conditioning was invented. I can see why! We've got monsoon moisture and it feels like late August. I stepped outside today and decided not to leave the house. I can't face getting sick out in the heat. You guys have it, too. This is one nasty heat wave, but its also midsummer. Not like its unexpected.

Kim, your Zinnias are gorgeous and wow about the heat. It's like putting your head in an oven.

Can you believe that it's still wet and cold here? I had to light the wood stove today. I'm back wearing long PJs to bed and took my wool blanket out of storage and put it back on my bed.

No weeding for me but the weeds love this wet weather.
I've been knitting a scarf and hooking my pig and mud puddle instead. Strange weather for sure.

Glad you have a pool and air conditioner to keep cool.

Hugs,
JB

Yikes! Well, you are so right when you say the garden loves the sun. I have Lizzy today, but I am going to get back on the Anne train as soon as possible. Confession: I read ahead one day, so now I have to go back and savor chapter 3, right? Take care, sunflower friend!

I grew up in the days of no A/C. I spent my summers sitting in the house in front of the fan or outside under the shade of the big oak tree reading a book! Hopefully there will be no problem with your A/C. Is this a usual pattern for this time of year with your weather? I don't think I remember that it is this warm there during the summer. Stay cool, drink plenty of water, and take care! xo Nellie

Girlfriend, that is some serious heat. It may make your flowers beautiful but please be careful with yourself and stay cool...

Wow! dear, stay cool, wear your biggest straw gardening hat, sunscreen, and hold on for the summer ride.

Things are growing like crazy.

Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving your sweet words.

Happy weekend,

Sharon

It got to 114 here too on Friday and about the same today. I work inside but trying to get to the csr is like walking into an oven! I live about 100 miles north of Phoenix! It has been many years since it was this hot here. Stay cool everyone!

When I saw the national weather on TV I was thinking about you. I hope all the chickens will be ok. I saw something online about freezing water in soda bottles to let the chickens lay next to them or sit on them. Your temperatures are so high I don't know how long the ice will last. I know you are use to the hot hot weather, but man that really is a long time to have such high temperatures. Good luck and keep us posted.

Oh wow, it is definitely much hotter up by you. We are in the heat wave too, but we are hovering around in the upper ninety's and low one hundreds...but it is also sickeningly humid. Just not good! haha Thank God for air conditioning huh? But I agree with everyone else, your Zinnias are gorgeous!

Wow, that's the kind of weather we had last summer at this time. Thank God for air conditioning, right? And at least you have a pool to help you stay cool. ;-)

We didn't have air conditioners growing up (my parents still don't have one) I remember sleeping out on the screened side porch at night because it was so hot. Our weather is beginning to warm up but our weather has been unusually wet, not complaining because my garden is loving it. Have a great week
