Tuesday---Day Two

Yesterday was a perfect day. I expect that today will be the same. Perfect I mean for working. Not to hot and not to cold. The right kind of breeze so time passes very quickly. I can plug in my I Pod put on some really good music and I don't know how tired I am until I come in the house. I chopped weeds for 6 1/2 hours. My husband got home from work and grabbed our two youngest sons and in 45 minutes they did more work than I did in all of those hours.

Today I am going to not worry about the rest of the weeds because my husband said that when he gets home tonight they will just finish up. I am going to play in my garden. I thought I would show you a picture of my tiny garden this year.

This isn't a very good picture but I liked it because it has a bit of my husband trees that are in the ground and it has a bit of the berries that we planted last year and they are going to be covered in blooms. I can't wait to pick berries.

I want so bad to plant something. I may just go down to the garden shop and stare at tomato plants.

I just had to show you this cottonwood tree. Last week it had two leaves on it. This was yesterday. It just exploded with leaves. There are already so many leaves that standing under it you can hear it muttering to itself. I always think trees have personalities. This one is a happy tree. The leaves are starting to shimmer.

I wanted to show you my husband's latest project. A couple of summers ago my favorite Sugar Maple tree died. Earlier this year my husband removed the stump and cut it up like this. For the last couple of weeks he has been turning the old stump into bases for his Bonsai trees.

He sanded and then put a special kind of epoxy on them. They turned out so cool that we both go out and stand and look at them.
He already gave this one away to a lady who wanted one for a cake stand. The lady who is making Emilie's wedding cake is doing another party and she wanted a piece of wood like this so he was happy to give it to her.

I will stop here. I have things to do today. I hope your Tuesday is just great.

Thanks for stopping by today.
~Kim~

Cake stand?? I think you could sell those epoxied tree slices your hubby makes on Etsy or anywhere. No one else has one!

those colorful pictures are so pretty. I think your garden is beautiful, it looks like it is coming to life. I think trees most certainly have their own personalities! I would love to know what kind of epoxy? I thought they looked liked some kind of pour resin? I love hearing about your husband's projects too, thanks for sharing. God Bless You All!

Kim...your "tiny" garden looks pretty big to me!! :) I'm with you...wanting to go did in the dirt. We still have a few weeks before I'll be able to do that, though. The ground isn't ready to work up yet here. Hope your Tuesday is even better than yesterday!

I will have extra plants if you want them... They are a little leggy, but they're big. They are Romas, so good for sauce and stuff.

I can not believe you chopped weeds for 6 1/2 hours. That is insane. I was outside for the hour while Munchie was napping putting up bean trellis and I was sweating all over. And I sure didn't feel any breeze. Although we are surrounded by houses.

I still think those pieces of wood are so pretty. They really turned out great. I can't wait to see them with a finished bonsai. I love your picture of the garden with all the trees. They are getting so big! And our cottonwood did the same thing. Every day it doubled, or tripled, it's leaves.

Sounds like your spring break is going quite well! I hope mine goes well next week. Only two more days of school. Friday is a teacher's workday but I took it off and I'm not going anywhere near that place. LOL The tree made lovely bases!

Those wood slices are so cool. What a creative pair you are :). Oh, and PLEASE do not spend your entire vacation attached to that hula hoe. Put it down, have a cup of tea, relax!

I love the wood pieces. The shiny finish really brings out the details of the tree.
You have a good sized garden for sure. It would be hard to wait to plant when everything is blooming as it is there.
I hope you're feeling sorry for all of us who still have 10 feet of snow on the ground, you lucky lady!

I always get a kick out of our polar opposite weather. It is nice to see leaves on trees. Maybe by the end of next month we will have some leaves on our trees here in NE.

I've been staring at the tomato plants too! Mostly wondering if they will survive until it's time to plant them. Your husband is very artistic.

I love those varnished woods! I also hope you try to get a bit of rest after all that work yesterday. I cleaned out the linen closet today and feel quite proud of myself.

What a great idea using slices of your own dead apple tree for bases. Your husband did a great job.

6 and 1/2 hours of weeding? That's a long time weeding. I'm glad that the job is done.

What size is your little garden? It looks like a large garden to me. It's good if it's even smaller than last year as you have so much ground to look after.
I hope that you take some time to rest a bit during your week off.
Hugs,
JB

I truly enjoy when brilliant ideals are born from things that are normally waste.

Great idea! Beautifully done.

I think someone is not only enjoying their break but getting some work done in the garden,of course we both know that we farm girls also enjoy getting our hands dirty, so work is really play.~smile~

Kim your husband is very talented with his hands too, I love what he did with the trunk of that tree.

It is so windy and cold here, I am having to wait to go out and play, plus I have been dealing with a back situation. I ended up going to my chiropractor, he has helped me so much!
enjoy your break.
Hugs,
Sue
