Chats on The Farmhouse Porch

It is time again to visit with Patrice at Everyday Rurality. Just in time for her farmhouse chat. It is much too cold to be outside today, so we can sit inside in front of the fire. Let's get to this week's questions:

1.    What was your favorite game as a child?

This is going to sound so funny but my favorite game was playing house. I loved playing house more than anything, next was playing school. I also had a stick horse that I rode every where. I spent hours and hours outside on that stick horse. If you can believe it I wore it out. It just fell apart. I loved any kind of sport too.

2.    Have you ever had your own business? (home business, a shop, Etsy, lemon-aid stand, etc)

You know this is one thing I have never done. I have thought about it and I am still thinking about it. :)

3.    How's your spelling?

Most of the time it is pretty good, but I am very thankful for spell checkers.

4.    How are you about going to the dentist?

Not good, it sounds like Patrice and I had the same dentist growing up. The one we went to we had to make sure we had an appointment before lunch because after lunch he was so looped he missed the tooth half the time and hit the gum. It took me years to finally go back to the dentist and I still break out in a cold sweat when I am waiting.

5.    Do you enjoy board games?

No, I can't say I am but every one else in this house is. Board games are big business right now. We have young adults over here two or three times a week playing board games. Here is a picture of part of them, There are more of them upstairs

I keep having to unload my book shelves so they can have more room for games. It just makes me laugh at how these kids have grown up with video games and the internet games are just having a blast with board games now. They are quite different from the kinds I played as a child.

Thanks for stopping by today. Thank you to Patrice for the questions.

I see Mad Gab on your game shelf...that's a fun game. Did you know that if you speak "Dutchified" that it's easier to figure out the phrases?! :)

Good morning! My two favorite things to play were also house and school. Played ALL time, could never seem to get enough, haha. I love that you have adult kids over two or three nights a week, and playing board games to boot! soo neat. Enjoy your day!

I love your answers Kim.

Funny that I loved playing house and school the best too and always had the best behaved kids but my students would be naughty some time which caused me to raise my voice at them, lol.

I had a ceramic business in my home for 20 years. The last 10 years, I expanded the business to retail of supplies and wholesale of greenware to studios.

I'm not much of a board game lover but I played snakes and ladders with my little granddaughter. I much prefer jigsaw puzzles.

I'm glad for spell check too.

Have a great day.
Hugs,
JB

What a fun post...and board games, I am not into them much, but my adult children are...they play them with others at their own homes, not much here. I am trying to do more of them with Benjamin.
Well with the last graduating you just might open your own business....new adventures await you!

Got board games? LOL We play them here too as well as a gazillion games that aren't exactly board games. I don't remember ever playing house (though it could come back to me, with my memory, I just never know) but I played school all the time. I had a school desk and a chalk board and I loved to play school! And I was much nicer than my teachers. :) You should open up an Etsy business and sell some of your wonderful needlework!

I LOVED playing house as a child! I am so glad with all the technology out there, people still sit together and play cards or board games. I had a wonderful experience with a new dentist yesterday. They offered me a cup of tea when I arrived. They had soft, classical music playing. If you are stressed, you can request a massage and some herbal stuff to calm you down. The staff couldn't have been more friendly, professional and efficient. Now I need to learn to stop clenching my teeth at home!

Doesn't surprise me a bit that you liked to play house!!

Great chat today, Kim, I too don't like going to dentist, and my favorite game was playing house, but the board game that i enjoyed then and now is monopoly. I think an etsy shop would be great you are so gifted with your needlework and it would do so well! Thanks for chatting.
Hugs,
Sue

I'm having a hard time commenting tonight. This is the third time I have tried. Enjoy your cold weather while it lasts. Funny thing is, we have been in the 50's for a few days. Tonight it is colder though and we are expected to have roughly 4 inches of snow tomorrow.

I used to play school all the time when I was a kid. I taught every kid in the neighborhood to read before they started school.
