Working in The Garden

It is a beautiful Saturday morning here. We are having our first taste of summer. It might get to 91 today. I went out this morning before the sun was up. I could smell that hot warm toasty air but still with a hint of orange blossoms. My roses are all blooming like crazy. Today is the day I get out my seeds like miser and count them and read the packets and stare at my garden plan.

My husband is getting the hoses all laid out. With all of the other things he already has in this year he had to go buy more. Today on the list is he has to plow. and get the rows for the sunflowers, and the pumpkins, and the potatoes and corn. We won't plant pumpkins yet, just get the rows ready.

I had a idea for a new arch. I am going to see if I can make one using tree limbs from the cotton woods. I was reading about how the Indians that lived around here, used cottonwood branches to make the tents they lived in as the trees were numerous and the limbs stayed pliable yet would dry and keep the shape. I thought I would try that. If it turns out like I see it in my head, I will show you. I think using limbs from the trees would be better for the morning glories to climb on.

Time to be out in the garden. It will be too hot by noon. I felt so guilty because my poor blog has gone postless, for a few days. I am having a hard time navigating the new pages and stuff and I get frustrated and by the time I find where things are then I can't think of anything nice to say, and you know if you can't say anything nice at all it is better to be quiet. :)

Have a lovely Saturday,
~Kim~

I wanted to tell you that your blog is so very pretty. I love the blue and the clouds. I've been wanted to freshen up my blog for spring, but barely have the time to post these days.

Question for you, Kim- What is a tag? You said you're a tag-free blog. I know about tagging in facebook, is that similar? People can tag you in pictures in your/their blogs?

I know what you mean, sometimes it's better to say nothing. I often think before I post and then say nothing!

That's HOT for April, isn't it? We're hovering in the 50s today but it is supposed to warm up quite a bit next week. It's fun getting the garden planned out. LOVE those roses.

Ohh, your blueberries are already have started to grow. Your place sounds so beautiful with roses in blooms and garden being planed.
90 degrees already, I can't stand too much heat like my husband while working outside.

I'm still only pruning my rose bushes and my peonies have just poked out of the ground so I['ll have to feed my eyes on your gardens for now although I have some daffodils in bloom and some little bulbs by my big rock that are blooming blue and my Lung warts are also blooming.

We are awaiting a rainfall and to the north of New Brunswick they are even expecting snow.

Have a lovely weekend.
Hugs, JB

Looking at your blog pix... well, that's the part I miss about living in green Ohio. Growing and having a garden in the land of AZ is difficult, at best. <>

You are so busy, but it's great to be busy sometimes, isn't it. Today we had our first 100 degree day here in Phoenix.

I so love your roses. It got to 50 today, so it will be awhile before I see mine.

Enjoy...enjoy! Our sunflowers are starting to come up, I so hope we have some wonderful ones like you have. Benjamin keeps running outside to see if the seeds have sprouted yet...such wonder in a child's life.

As for posting...well I never could keep up with once a day...so you are way a head of me in that.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Good morning! Your roses are just gorgeous! I miss mine. I have one rose bush here and it does pretty good too. It sure has been warm huh? Not quite ready for that kind of heat though, haha. Your garden plans sound wonderful. I have to say I do admire those of you who manage to get up a daily post. I am not sure what I am doing, but I can't seem to ever pull that off, haha. I think it is more I can't think of anything to say that often....anything anyone might want to hear anyway, haha. Have a wonderful Sunday!

Your roses are beautiful, Kim, I found one yellow rose yesterday, and was tempted to cut it. ~smile~ We are in full swing around here, too. Not had 90 temps.yet, and hope they will stay away fora while so I can stay outside longer. We have so many projects going on, we are asking ourselves,"what were we thinking?' Anyhow I enjoy it,especially the gardening.
Good luck with your planting, and I look forward to you sharing what you did with the arbor. We try and plant our pumpkins by the first of July.

Enjoy your day,
Hugs,
Sue

Out temperatures are all over the board lately. We had a sweltering day not that long ago and today, hubby borrowed my winter farm coat. At least we had a bit of rain. We need so much more rain. We're headed for a drought the way we're going. Your plants look good. I'm going to get pumpkins in this year for sure. Have a nice Sunday!

Your roses are huge. Pink roses have always been my favorite shade. I also love Cape Cod beach roses which grow wild at the Cape.

I'm so glad it's garden season. I just love seeing everything growing out in your pasture and wandering around to look at how it is doing.

Kim
It sounds so wonderful to be able to get outside and garden! The heat I could live without though.
Your flowers are lovely. I'm looking forward to seeing how your arch turns out. My Dad always arched 3 willows, then planted green beans or limas for them to vine up. We did this for many years too. It is so pretty too.
Have a super Sunday-Kimberly

What big beautiful garden beds you have there. I look forward to your future posts about them. Everything looks so neat and organized. I'm just starting to garden so I'm a big work in progress, trying to learn from others who are experienced.

I'm so excited! This is the first time in weeks (maybe months?) since I found a new blog post from you in my Google Reader!

I can't wait to see your garden. I miss having a garden ... we never could have one because our dogs wouldn't stay out of it.
