My Favorite Photo of 2011

Chasing the honey bee.

Of all of the photo's I took last year this has to be my favorite.

I really did chase this bee all over the flowers. I was in the sunflowers with my camera and I had just about given up hope of getting a good enough shot to publish. When for some reason my flash went off and this was the photo I captured.

I had been poked and scratched from climbing in the trees and the sunflowers. I don't know if you are doing what I am doing today but I am going to try and use the new editor this year on blogger and try to use my camera to get better shots. No, I keep backing out on getting a new camera. I am still using the little point and shoot Cannon that is my son's camera.

My husband wanted to get me a camera and lens and all I had to do was say the word. I said no, because what I have found in my own life that even if I get a new camera, my pictures might look the same, I need to progress in me before I can think of getting a better camera.

I still don't know the correct names on the camera instead of saying this or that pointy thing or flash thing or things like that. I also need to use learn to use Photo shop, I have been afraid of that too. I have it all on my computer but I am just too lazy.

So this is what I am thinking about this year and things I want to try in 2012

I hope you have a lovely day today,

~Kim~

Your photo is wonderful, as good as any professional. I have a simple camera, and think that good pictures are more about composition and lighting than anything else. Every once in a while I get a wow shot.
I taught myself photoshop, I can't do everything it offers, but am learning to do what I need.
Good New Year wishes.

That is truly a keeper of a shot! As to cameras... you can get great shots with just about anything... in my humble opinion it is about having a good eye... this shot shows that you do!

You know I love the sunflower or any flower.
Very nice, and you are pretty amazing yourself!
I will be back, got behind but catching up.

I love that photo too. I chased a stupid bluejay around my back yard all summer and never got the shot. I swear I could hear it laughing at me :)

I love that picture too! I need to get back into gear with my camera and start discovering all that it can do instead of keeping it in auto mode all the time!

Hi Kim, I love this shot-boy you have a great eye. I have a Nikon and haven't used most of what I have available. I don't have photoshop but want to try to get some interesting lighting with photos. I hope you continue to get more comfortable with your shots-you are good! I have a Nikon and love it.
Hugs today.

I think your camera takes amazing pictures! I am still using the first Sony digital camera they made, with floppy discs I've had to buy online since they don't make them anymore!! :)

Happy New Year Kim!

You always have great photos Kim , and this was a favorite of mine, I laughed when you told of what you went through getting it, as i find I do the same.
Great to catch-up today, enjoyed your last post, you are so cute making those biscuits, and opening your gift.
I plan to start taking the decorations down tomorrow, this afternoon I am out visiting friends here in blogland, we took Susan to the airport this morning, and when this happens it usually takes a few days of adjustment, and blogging always helps, I am so thankful for my blogging friends.
Love your new layout!
Wishing you and your family a very blessed, and Happy New Year.
Hugs,
Sue

That photo is absolutely amazing... aren't the swirls in the centre of the flower. Wonderful. I too have Photoshop but haven't got around to learning how to use it... time, time, time! That's the problem!

Love the picture! I feel the same way about cameras... My point and shoot takes pictures just fine, and it fits in my pocket!

You are NOT lazy! Not one bit, Miss Kim!
I love shooting photos with my son's castoff Nikon. He thought for sure it was about out of clicks but it keeps clicking away for me.
I take zillions of photos and choose just a few. I never tire of it. Weird! I have such a short attention span.
You'll know when the time is right to buy that camera of your very own. Meanwhile, see how good you are with the Canon? Buzz! Buzz! Gorgeous picture!

This is an awesome photo. I like you use a little Canon and I love it. I trudge through the mud and snow and water so an expensive camera would never work. It is not the camera it is the eye and you have it.
Happy New Year B

Kim
I remember this. I don't know how you did it!
It is truly a rare shoot!
My good camera broke (I broke it) and now I'm using my DH's old one. Not very good quality, but it will have to do for now.
Keep up the good work!

I love that one...reminds me of the book the Bee Hunt...it is great. I am trying to figure out how to change my blog for the year...oh mine I just don't get it at all and become so frustrated...I can't figure out how large my picture is to be to go on my header.
So I am learning also...but I can say your pictures look great all the time.

Happy New Year
