Good-bye September!

I am linking today with Joyce. She is having a Friday Pretties. If you get a chance go over and visit
I Love Pretty Little Things.

A Pumpkin waiting to be picked

Today is the last day of September. I cannot say I am sorry to see her go.
I am excited about turning the page and coming to October. When I think of
October I see her in the reds and golds and yellows. All warm colors that
make me feel happy and safe. I think of October as full of dreams just waiting
to be dreamed. I think of October as a friend. September, I admit to liking her
but keeping her at arms distance because I never know if I can't trust her or not.
She does seem a bit flighty. She can be hot one minute and unleashing storms
at the drop of a hat.
Leaves beginning to change.

October on the other hand seems to wait and yes she will usher in storms and cooler weather,
but she always brings color to paint the leaves. So somehow it looks like she doesn't want
to inflict the pain of September.

October always brings blue skies and crisp air just like the first bite of an apple on a frosty morning.
As I think of October I think of the sound of running feet and the sound of crunchy brown leaves
and the sound of laughter as children rake leaves and then pile them and jump. I think of cold
little feet that now have to wear shoes and socks to keep them warm. All of the best things
I love are in October.
Yes, I am so happy to say, Good bye September, it was nice but October, you are my friend.
Come on over and stay awhile.

Have a lovely weekend.
~Kim~

Kim, very well stated. October, what is there not to love. I do love your Daddy Long Legs collection, to me they are very powerful and artistic. Your gardens have been amazing and I love the new header and Autumn feel to your blog. The last few days here have been delightful, however, rain today. Hope the home schooling is off to a great start! sending greetings from Maine, Julie.

Beautifly written Kim!
And your photos are lovely too. It looks like that maple is just about completely colored.
Is that your largest pumpkin yet? Because it sure looks like a good size from here.
Well, embrace your first October weekend with your arms open wide, while I sit inside looking at yet another day of rain here on the lake.

I can't quite believe that September is gone. I guess being away will do that to your mind.

I love October...but I have to say September was the warmest month we've had all year. I DO hope October can live up to her;)
Love that pumpkin. Good thing I don't live next door;))

You read my mind. I just didn't know how to articulate it. You said it beautifully. Thank you. I LOVE October for all beauty and color it she shares with us. I drove back up to the mountains of NH yesterday to pick up my daughter and all the leaves are starting to turn. Sooo beautiful.

Beautiful Friday Pretties Post! Thanks so much for joining me.
Fall is so pretty, but it makes me sad because I know what's coming- Snow...Snow...& More Snow...and I'm a summer type gal. I guess it makes me appreciate summer all the more. Right?

And again, you wax so poetic! Lovely post!

October is my favorite month- and I am the same way about September...never quite sure what it's going to do. But October just ushers in fall with all the best colors and smells and festivals and holidays and, for me, motivation!
