More Life Adventrures

Last night, before I went to sleep, my husband asked me
what I wanted to do on Saturday morning. My response?
All I wanted to do was sleep to 6:00 A.M. and have coffee
and watch the sun come up. It didn't work out like that.

3:30 Husband gets up to let dog out to go to the bathroom.
I am trying to keep my eyes shut so I don't wake up.
3:31 I hear, "Sasha, Sasha,!! No, Sasha, skunk!!!
I jump out of bed, yelling like a banshee, Sasha!!! Come back!!
3:32 Sasha comes back, and I tell my husband, grab her don't let
her in until you can see where she got sprayed."
3:33 He tells me" I think the skunk missed."
3:34 I let her come into the bedroom and my room is engulfed in the aroma
of skunk.

3:35 I grab her by the collar and start dragging her out the door. Hoping the skunk
took off for home.
3:36 Ron goes in to get the skunk stuff called Nature's Miracle we buy by the gallon.
fills the sprayer bottle and I did have presence of mind to grab gloves. We sprayed her
down and rubbed it in and locked her in the garage bathroom.

3:54 I thought I could still sleep until six, I tried to go back to bed, my room smelled
like 10 skunks had a party. I pulled the covers up over my head.
4:15 I gave up, grabbed a pillow and a blanket and tried to sleep on the couch.
4:30 Dog in garage starts howling, and howling.
5:30 The coffee goes off and my husband and I get up and try to find some
fresh air to drink our coffee with. We give up and have skunk flavored coffee.
6:00 A.M. I walk out to take the Netflix envelope out to the mailbox.
The neighbors cat is dead out in front.
Ron cleans up the cat and buries it out in the back of the pasture.
I think I need to go talk to the neighbors behind us because it seems
like my husband goes out there very early and buries things. Last time
it was a dead possum but you know it looks pretty weird. "Can't you hear them
peeking out through the drapes, " Look he is at it again, can you see what he is
digging that deep hole for this time,?"

I guess I need to tell the other neighbor we buried her cat. I hope she doesn't mind.

We pulled out the tomatoes and got that all cleaned up. I got my chicken pen cleaned
and fresh straw in the nest boxes and one side of the pumpkins picked.
We got the pool filters all cleaned and I went in the house and it was only 9:30 A.M.

Just life around here on Saturday morning. Next job will be Sasha gets a bath.

What did you do this Saturday?

~Kim~

LOL! I died laughing the whole time! Even though it's not a laughing matter. Good grief, not a stupid skunk! She'll stink for days. And then the cat, too. What a morning. :-D

Oh no. I wish I could lie and pretend I'm not laughing. I'm sorry. If it happened to me I wouldn't be laughing! That is definitely one rough start to the day.
Skunk coffee? (snort)

See... you have a blog to write when you think you have NOTHING to write about! Just the day to day at your house is enough for a storybook. It IS a storybook. :)

Hope the air is clear again by now. It is pretty amazing what a skunk can do for miles around.

Enjoy your Sunday Kim!

Hi Kim! Oh my goodness! Skunk!
I mailed off The Grand Tour package this morning, went to the grocery store, and took a nap. Nice.

I NEED to clean my coop too, but I'm waiting just a little longer until the old hens are gone.

Beth Streeter Aldrich! She's one of my favorite authors. If you haven't read her book, The Cutters, you must.

P.S.
The best de-skunker I've found is simple to make at home.

1 quart hydrogen peroxide
1 tsp. Dawn dish soap
1/4 c. baking soda
1 gallon of water
Mix well.

Wet down the dog first. Pour deodorizer over dog and scrub it in. I use rubber gloves. Let it sit for 5 minutes or so. Do not get solution in dog's eyes. Rinse well.

It works. I've used it many times and always have a stash of hydrogen peroxide in the cabinet.

Kim, I love today's post. It sounds like one of those funny I Love Lucy episode. I love your sense of humor too. Would you still want to be a dog like Shaha if you could be a dog? Ha,ha...

I can sympathize with you because it happened to one of my cat a few years back. She was a pretty long hair white cat and got sprayed in the face the poor curious thing...

She was coming from the river bank and had her eyes closed and I knew that she see where she was going. I could smell skunk but was hoping that she had escaped being sprayed and I called her name, she veered in the direction of my voice and made a dash for the open door. In she came and you can just imagine the musk......she never bother another skunk after that... lol... JB

Very funny, those skunks are settled in. I hope that wasn't Missy, Ellie's cat, I am assuming it is Mary's. I cracked up about the neighbors watching Ron bury things. Very funny, your clock watching was the best.

You have more adventures at your place! I hope you are putting them in a journal. When we had our dog, we went through this so many times too! They sure keep life interesting.
It looks like lack of sleep didn't keep you down today-you still got so much accomplished.
And I'm envious of those cute little pumpkins. They are the perfect size for decorating.
Hope tommorow is a little calmer for you there down on the farm.
Take care!

Oh my gosh ~ I thought my life was the only one like this ~ my neighbour had a skunk in their garage at 1:30 a.m. and screamed like a girl ~ we were out there trying to get rid of it. We tried to go back to sleep ~ no way ~ coffee at 4:00 a.m. and just start our day (Nap time at 1:00 was nice though) ;-)

Great post. I laughed about your husband burying things in back. So sorry about the skunk. Sounds like a long day. If it helps any I was up at 4:00am elk hunting. Heard lots of bugles, didn't see any elk, their tracks were 10 feet from my jeep. Ack! Maybe we both should have just missed this Saturday.

Oh! can you imagine what your neighbor would think if your dh just happened to dig a really big hole~wink~
Always love your photos! not to mention you sharing your thoughts,

What a joy to visit you,

Okay, I must confess I laughed most of the way through this post. Sorry. Especially the part about your husband burying the cat in the backyard. The mental picture of it struck me so funny... Hope the skunk smell is gone now!
