Simply Sunday and a Rug Hooking Tutioral

Just a simple post on Sunday morning, I hope all
of you who have had Irene this weekend have been okay.
I have turned into such a weather junky. I watch the news
reports and then watch the radar to see what is going
on. Sometimes technology is a wonderful thing.

First of all I wanted to share with you a website that
has a nice beginning tutorial on beginning rug hooking.
She is also having a give a way for a kit with everything
to get started rug hooking.
Margie's blog is called, Hungry Hook Primitives.
She has some really nice wool and her kits are nice too.
So if you have wanted to be a rug hooker here is your chance.
I am thinking of getting a kit and following along with her
so I can learn to be a better rug hooker. Here is a picture of
the kit you can win.

Speaking of rug hooking. I worked on my rug on Saturday.
I worked in the morning cleaning flowerbeds and cleaning the
chicken coop, then it just got too hot to do anything else.
I am following directions for my rug that is in the book and I am
pretty happy at the results. I worked about four hours pulling
loops. All night long I dreamed I was still hooking. Patterns
were in my head. So weird.

After all of the many, many tries and things that now
live in a box under the sink, I have to say this is the first
one I am really pretty happy about. I really enjoy pulling
loops, in fact, I think I could sit and do this and forget
to do my work, clean house, you know all of those things.

I will be hooking more today because we are having another
day of 103. I don't know why this time of year, when it gets hot
like this it seems hotter than it did at the start of the summer.

Thinking of you,
~Kim~

Kim, I love your new Halloween rug. You're doing an excellent job.

We had rain this morning but it has stopped for the moment. We still are not in the storm yet but are expecting heavy rain and wind. I haven't been following the news as I've been a bit busy trying to cut my lawn before the rain and couldn't finish the back as darkness came so early last evening. It was dark at 8:30 and the sky was gray and very overcast. I hope that all my blogger friends are weathering the storm OK. Your's is the first blog that I've checked today. I'm going down the list. I hope that the heat wave goes away for you.

Hugs, JB

Love the rug! We're about 30 degrees cooler today than you (winds from Irene) so 103 sounds beyond horrible!

Kim, your letters look great. I find it hard to hook letters. It's humid here. Few rain sprinkles but no Irene for awhile yet. I'm addicted to the weather network this weekend too.

We're in the thick of it. I just don't relish losing power...but so many already have that I can't see that we'll be spared. Lights are actually flickering now. I'll send this off before I can't! Hugs!

I have always wanted to learn how to make those rugs, just so I could make the cute fall patterns like the one you are doing.

Hi Kim, this sounds like a very relaxing and peaceful day. I can relate to ioo+ temps. we are in the 90's and with the ground wet, it feels like a sauna .lol. I always enjoy seeing what your hands create, both are beautiful. Enjoy your day.
Hugs,
Sue

Hi, sweetie pie KIM!
Your pumpkin rug looks fantastic! Oh, I hope the weather cools. It's good to stay inside and hook though, isn't it?

Oh wow, that pumpkin rug is looking great! Isn't it hot to sit and do it when it's so hot outside, though? Of course, I have hot children on me all the time, so maybe I'm overthinking it.

Your rug looks great! I love the white pumpkin... Isn't it just terrible how when we begin to have fun with a project it just seems to call out all day. I'm doing laundry and my knitting needles are calling. I'm washing dishes and they still call. Sometimes, I finish a chore and mindlessly wander into the living room, pick up my needles and suddenly come to. I look around me and think, "how did I get in here? I meant to go scrub a toilet! Ah well, since they are in my hands, maybe just one row..." :)

Blessings, Debbie

Pretty rug and glad it's a kit.
Both the earthquake and hurricane passed us by with no effect...thank God. Friends weren't so fortunate and will be re-building for a while.
The high school in Louisa County, where the epicenter was located, has to be razed and re-built. So many businesses need to be re-built...sad.

I liked that patriotic rug as well, very fitting for what's coming up this September 11 on the anniversary . Richard
