Easy and Delicious Cobbler

I realized I am a hoarder. I hoard my fruit. I had a bag
of boysenberries I kept in the freezer until my berries
got ripe this year. Today was the day I was going to make
a cobbler.
It really is a very easy recipe. When I first got married
my Mom gave me this cook book called the All Guild Cookbook.
I had two cookbooks when I first got married the Betty Crocker Cookbook
and my All Guild. I think I learned to cook with them both.

My Mom and Dad had a restaurant. When our fair was running in
September to October, they lived at the fairgrounds. Every September,
she would call me from the restaurant and ask for "THE COBBLER" recipe.
I would dig out my cookbook and tell her and then she would make them
for two weeks, lots and lots of them. She also had an ice cream shop in there
so she would serve it with ice cream too. People would wait in line as she
would take the hot cobblers out of the ovens.
I think about that now as I am making cobblers. Now my daughter and daughter-in-
love call me for THE Cobbler Recipe.
Now I am sharing it with you.

Easy and Delicious Cobbler

3 Cups any kind of fruit (peaches, apricots, cherries,
berries, etc)
3/4 cup sugar

Stir together and put in 8x8 inch pan.

Sift together:
1 cup flour
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder

Add 1 egg and mix until crumbly, Sprinkle over fruit and top with 1/3
cup melted butter. (or margarine) Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes

******
I double this recipe because I have never owned a 8x8 pan. I use a 13x9
It doubles really easy and I also bake it longer because my oven isn't
a fast oven like some I have had in the past. The one I made today had
to bake a hour before my top crust was brown like I like it to look.
My husband said, it is fantastic so I am glad I haven't lost my touch.

Enjoy
~Kim~

"daughter-in-love" i really liked that!!!

i make something very similar every single holiday....we call it "crisp"..."apple crisp" the recipe is almost identical but of course, i use apples. the only real difference is i don't use egg in the crumb topping.....now i think i will try it with berries.

looks super yummy.....inspired me to bake something!!!

They had boysenberries and blackberries at the farmer's market today, but they were just too expensive for me to justify getting. Best solution is just to grow your own!

Yum yum, now I want some cobbler. :-)

Cobbler is the best...homey and full of fruit. I like apples and peaches as well as berries. I usually make up some apple crisp in the fall, but I put oatmeal into the mix too. I'll have to try this recipe...it looks so good!

You make one of those and I'll bring the ice cream. Okay? I love peaches and blueberries in a cobbler! I feel the way you do about fruit. :):):)

Good Morning Kim,
I always love it when my mom calls and ask me for a recipe, and I know you were so pleased too when your Mom called you, I always think " Wow! my mom calling me for a recipe, how cool is that" and now your daughters are calling and asking, my Susan calls me for recipes too. Such a great feeling! I must try this recipe with my blackberries, looks so good.
Enjoy your day!
Hugs,
Sue
