Farm Friend Friday with Verde Farm

It is another Friday with Verde Farm
linky day.
I have met the nicest people via this linky party.
I have come to realize the bloggers are just the best kind
of people. I am so happy that I took the plunge.
So if you have time, I hope you can jump over to Verde
Farms and visit some of the lovely ladies who are linking
up today.

My brother owns the feed store where I buy all of my feed
and my chickens. He called today to tell me that he has Cuckoo
Marans in I think he does it on purpose. The last time I needed
feed I sent my husband and I stayed home because of the temptation
of baby chicks.

I keep telling myself to just grow more of these and be content
with sunflowers and Zinnias

To stop mooning about thinking of the little peeps they
make when they are all settled down for the night.
I need to stop thinking of how excited they are in the warm
sunshine when they run around and flap their tiny wings.
Or how their little heart feels as it beats when you hold them
in your hands. Or the smell of little Chicky down when I put my
nose close to look at their eyes.
No, I can't think of all of those things when I sit and start dreaming
of chicks.

I hope you have a wonderful Friday. With lots of warm sunshine and
gentle breezes.
~Kim~

Oh how sweet!!! You must get some baby chicks Kim--your heart is longing for them :) I keep hoping we get some pretty chicks here soon. I do have a Silkie sitting on eggs right now and we have a muscovy sitting on a clutch--just in time for Easter. Your flowers are gorgeous--2 of my favorites :)
Hugs, Amy

I have no idea what it's like to have real chickens, but your pic is beautiful. I grow zinnias and sunflowers in my little garden too:@)

I had been doing well until this post and now I am thinking I need more chicks. I want to feel their hearts.

I think you've already lost the battle against chickies, writing about them like that. Why don't you just get, like, 3?

...and a silkie.

And a guinea.

And a Muscovy duck! They reduce the local fly population by 90%!

I'm no help, I know. XD

Kim, if having baby chicks makes you happy, by all mean, give in to your desires. This is non fattening and baby chicks are so cute even when the grow up. JB

We don't have chickens yet on our farm, but I would love to have some laying hens. I'm taking care of my sister's chickens while she's away next week, so maybe that'll get me motivated to buy some myself:)

Oh, I think since you have such a wonderful place for them, you should get more chicks. I truly do. You love them SO much - watching them, talking to them, caring for them... :)

I guess your brother is a little like a drug dealer - just dangling it out there in front of you... :)

This has nothing to do with this post, but I totally didn't think about this until just now when it clicked. The reason (or at least, I assume the reason) you've been so cold from being on a diet is because the process of digestion generates heat in the body. Therefore less food, less heat. More food, more heat. I learned that listening to someone who had done some cold weather endurance hikes and how the rules where they had to have a certain number of calories with them in order to generate heat to survive. They had to snack every hour or so to keep the heat-creating digestive process going.

Fun fact of the day! :D

I love baby chicks and I have the same problem if I go into the Coop and there are some there. B

Have a great day and have fun going to pick up your new chicks! I know you are probably thinking about it and want to. I'm not sure I know that breed. I'll have to look it up. We have 400 new laying hens coming in and 300 broilers. We could sure use a brother with a feed store! Prices have gone through the roof. We're talking about raising our own. It's been done here before, but we seriously need to clone ourselves to get everything done already! Have a great weekend, my friend:)

I had to laugh at your longing...I'm that way too.
I saw an add that chicks were in at a local feed store. Uh uh....can't go there. Won't go there. Don't have the place (yet) or the time! No. No! NO!
I enjoyed 'meeting' you through Farm Friend Friday!

Oh fun post...just talking to my husband about how many people have chickens...this city couple can only relate to seeing them at my grandparents, which was years ago.
Have a great weekend.
