Things I Made This Week.

This week I have been working on my turkey.
When I was packing up to move here, I did something
really stupid and that was to throw away or give away
my patterns to make wood things. I think my thinking
was I would be riding my horse off into the sunset and never
do crafty things again.
Well, I am hard pressed now to find stuff like that anymore.
I was looking around a blogs one day and I came across,
Sue Allemand http://freepaintinpatterns.blogspot.com/
and she has some really cute free patterns and this turkey
was one of them. I couldn't wait to make it. I just didn't know
it was going to take me so long. I was half afraid it was going to
be after Thanksgiving before I made it so I decided this week
was the week. I finished it this morning.

I finally finished my rug. I did it with a Oxford
Needle punch. I have to do that finishing up stuff
that I have no idea how to do but I will get out my book by
Pat Cross and I will do that next week. This is the first project
I have ever done that was so big. I need to do another one
so I don't forget how to do it. The next one I want to do though
is I want to hook it with a rug hook.
I am so glad it is Friday and I look forward to the weekend.
I hope your Friday is a good one too.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for His wonderful works to the children of men!

I'm glad you MAKE TIME for your hobbies. And sometimes that's truly what you have to do to get anything done! I can spend days upon days here and have nothing to show for it besides more layers of dust and dog hair on the floor. So good for you at having finished 2 projects. Love the turkey's "leggings". :)

That hook rug is beautiful! You're very talented. I have a blogging friend online that makes these, and I'm always so impressed with her's too. Your little turkey is so sweet too.
Blessings,
Marcia

Kim, you may have lost your pattern but you sure didn't loose your talent for primitive wooden art. Your turkey looks wonderful. Another surprise, your rug. I didn't know you hooked with a punch needle. Your rug is wonderful. You may look up on Gene Shepherd Blog, if you scroll below the Archives on the right of his blog in the Categories, go to Whipping Edges and you'll find how he puts a binding on a rug and then whipping the edges neatly. Have a great weekend. JB

Good Morning, Friend! Now,that is one cute turkey...just my style! Great rug, too. I have never done 'rug hooking" but I use to crochet rugs with fabric. There was a place close by that would take huge rolls of fabric and slice it with a table saw. They sold it by the pound and you used a huge crochet hook to make these neat looking rugs. Well the shop went out of business and I haven't been able to find a source for fabric like that since. I've looked on line, but it takes a lot of fabric and it is heavy, so shipping would make it too "pricey". It's a shame because I loved doing it and they made wonderful gifts. right now, I'm crocheting a throw for our living room. Progress is slow.....I'll probably finish it in the spring when we don't need it anymore! :-) Hope you have a blessed day and weekend... I'm glad it is here, too!!

Oh I just have to laugh...you sound so much like me...I threw away so many things when we made our big move 12 years ago, thinking I would never use it again. Guess what...I now have to re-buy it. I was in the season of life of totally children absorption...no time for me...now the time is coming back around.

Your work is beautiful....so glad you are able to enjoy the works of your hands again!!!

Isn't God good to allow the different seasons?
Blessings and have a great weekend!!

Cute turkey! The rug is beautiful. I have seen some really complicated hooked rugs before. They must take forever to make.

Have a great Friday!

The turkey is adorable, and the rug is wonderful!
I also took a minute and watched the video from the last posting. Wow! I think your life on the farm shold be in a storybook!! That was such a treat. There is just something about the land itself and the crops and life it yields that has always drawn me. I visited so many as a child, and one will be a chapter in the series I've been doing on our travels as kids. To this day I love farms, and for sure I love yours!

Hugs!

I remember doing a Skullcraft hook rug with my mom when I was still shorter than her. It was Mickey Mouse. It got ruined in college, which broke my heart to bits. But ah... those memories!
