Monday Musings

It is one of those Monday mornings when my laundry
baskets overflow. The house seems dirtier than usual.
I have planned more school today than any one person could
get through. (trying to give myself room to take off next week.)
I went outside to take out the trash and from my porch, I hear
the sound of fire trucks with sirens on, the sound of train
whistles off in the distance. The pounding of those machines
that pound pilings into the river bottom to build a new bridge.
The cars going by filled with people 0n the way to work.

As I stand and listen I hear one of my hens complaining about
having to lay a egg this morning. The cold kitty is meowing at
me to go inside. The sunlight is hazy and it is about42 degrees.

In my reading this morning I am reminded by this.
"Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything,
in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
Ephesians 5:19-20

I am not in a very merry music in my heart kind of mood.
I will do what I do in a situation like this, I will focus as
I have learned from Elisabeth Elliot, "We accept and thank
God for what is given, not allowing the not-given to spoil it."
(Let Me Be A Woman, p. 42)

I will focus on that I have a washing machine and a dryer, the
sun is shining, the cats have a warm house to come into,
I have electricity. Which means I can vacuum to my hearts
content, and dust and mop and still get school finished and
dinner cooked. I can go outside with the dog and stare
at my chickens a bit and have a chat, yes, I do talk to my
chickens. They even talk back. They let me know that they
need some time out of the coop to eat some grass. I won't listen
today though. I have to get all of my work finished early because
I am going out tonight. On a Monday night. With my husband.
to do something I always said I would do, and I get to do it.

Tonight I am going to a play. Tonight I am going to see.

When my kids were young, my sister took them to L.A. to see the production. It must have been 15 years ago. I always wanted to see it and I saw that it was going to be in town for one night, for me I did something I have never done before, I ordered tickets. As my husband said, " we will be sitting in the nose bleed section seats. But I will take binoculars and I know it will be so much fun because I have always wanted to see this on stage. I have even went to our local productions when they have done Beauty and The Beast and I loved it too. I love the story so much and so now I have to get my work done today, so I can dress up and forget I am a mom and a grandmother and just be that girl who has always loved Beauty and The Beast.
Have a great Monday!

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for His wonderful works to the children of men!

(Psalm. 107:6)

Oh Kim, so excited for you to go see Beauty and the Beast. I would love to see that one. Happy you have next week off too. I so miss that about school days. I am hoping to take off half day Wednesday and Friday too--so that will be wonderful. Have a fabulous day my friend :)
Hugs, Amy

Hi Kim,
Good post. As much as I complain about my endless housework, by the grace of God I have a house to clean!

Have a great day and I look forward to hearing all about "Beauty & the Beast" if you'd like to share that with us. Enjoy!

I hope you have a wonderful evening (date). I hope you enjoy the production immensely. We can't all be in very merry music in the heart kind of moods all the time. It's nice when it happens though. I normally look at my house and sigh- ugh-housework. We had some people come to the farm yesterday for business. Hubby was sure they would need to sit at the dining room table and discuss some things. We cleaned like crazy. They walked the farm and never came in the house! I was exhausted from cleaning and HATE spending a Sunday like that. Monday morning was rather pleasant though. It was nice to have it so clean. It's far from perfect, but there was a huge improvement!

Have fun tonight!!!

The kids and I woke up this morning with fresh colds, so I've been trying to have a Thankful Monday while cleaning house and wiping noses. At least you have a fun play to go see tonight! It's totally something to look forward to. :-)

I'm just looking forward to naptime and maybe some hot tea.

I am excited for you to see this play. I LOVE plays. I saw this one years and years ago in LA and it remains to this day the VERY best I have ever seen....It was just wonderful. It got a standing O and that didn't seem like enough. ENJOY every minute of this. I'd love to see it again with some of my grandkids this time. Your day will fly by thinking of your wonderful evening lying ahead. BLESSINGS

I'm afraid I'm not in a merry mood today either. Seems like I've fought with the kids non-stop since they got up. Maybe it's just destined to be a Monday today.

I still think it's so cool you get to go see Beauty and the Beast! I used to love the Disney movie when I was little. It was one of my favorites. I even had a Beauty and the Beast lunch box in school! :D

Hope your day gets better!

I agree with you - my house is plenty dirty, but I have wonderful warm, furry pups that make it so. And I have laundry to do, but so what? I don't have to leave the comfort of my home to do it. SO many blessings and comfort we enjoy every day. Have a wonderful fun evening!

Kim, if someone deserves to take an evening off, it's you. I'm happy for you. Enjoy it to the fullest and come back to tell us how much you enjoyed it.

I've been doing laundry too today and I still have a few load to dry as I had unexpected company today and just put it aside until now. JB

Somehow I missed this yesterday, but I wanted to say I love the picture of the sunflowers! My son has chickens and he says they communicate with him, too! :-)
