Summer End

Everything in the garden is tired. Even Morning glory and
it only blooms one day. I wonder why 100 degrees
seems hotter at the end of August than it did in June?

To bad Zinnias don't last until Christmas, wouldn't this
look pretty in a Christmas vase. With candy canes.
It will be but a memory by then.

This is a bunch all growing together. I thought they looked
pretty.

This is a tired clump of Zinnias. I was outside this
morning and I was thinking to myself, that I wish
I could tell my husband to just plow the whole thing
under. With school starting on Monday, I won't be
coming out very much except early morning and
evening.

I hope your Saturday is a restful one.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for His wonderful works to the children of men!

(Psalm. 107:6)

Just have him plough under PART of it. Like, the part that you least want to deal with.

I know how it feels, though. I made the kids eat cantaloupe this morning because I've got to get rid of it. I found a recipe for cantaloupe butter, but I can't face the thought of making any more butter anything right now.

I know, I was thinking I need to make some more blueberry jam and I just can't face the idea of anymore canning or any more garden. I need to pick tomatoes and I just can't do that either. I was hula hoeing this morning and even that seems like to much.

Good evening Kim,
I just adore your peppermint Zinnias, it is so funny you should say this as I talked with my dh this afternoon about how bad my flowerbeds looked and he offered to pull them up next week, but I said "maybe let's let them stay a while longer",lol for one thing I have to get out there and gather my seeds.
It seems this heat that the majority of this country has had has taken its toll, I seem to be drained from it.
We planted a late garden, but just for eating,I think I have just a few more things to can and I will have mine completed. I am so looking forward to cooler weather.
Good luck with your schooling next week, it seems the first weeks of school is a little hard in adjustments, for teachers as well as students. I will be thinking and praying for you.
Thanks for coming by, I have so missed our visits.
Hugs,
Sue

the "tired" garden is so sad...i LOVE summer and now as I face my own weary garden flowers, I can't deny it's end. I do enjoy the crisp mornings and blue sky of fall, but the death of winter is ever closer...and that is never fun :(

holding on to summer as long as i can! ~M

I love your flower pictures! We don't have a real garden like you have, but our little flower beds around the house need to be taken out now and we just keep putting it off. I'm not going to miss the heat when summer ends, but I sure will miss the pretty flowers.

I am so proud of you keeping up with your 10,000 steps! Kim that is wonderful! Did you take your measurements? I bet you are toning up muscle and that's why the scales didn't change. That's good too becaue muscle burns more calories. I'm happy that you are joining me with losing 10 pounds! Yes, my make one change will be not eating "fast food" in the car...my healthy snacks will be okay :) It's so nice hearing from you again! I hope you have a good school week. Summer vacation went by fast didn't it?

hi kim! your flowers are beautiful! i am jealous
of your rich, dark soil. mine has SO much clay
in it.

are you on the lose 10 lbs. challenge? i could
sure use a few less myself!

i hope your first day of school goes well. i
used to get so excited and a little nervous.

love,
