Thoughts on Saturday Morning

Summer is finally here. The kids are swimming.
The water is warm enough that I am not
worried about hypothermia any more. I was watching
my two boys. They spend more time fighting and
wrestling than they do swimming. Being a girl,
I still ponder boys. My husband says, "roosters
must be roosters."
I remember after I had been a mother for awhile,
I had 4 boys and they had done something that
boys love to do I don't remember what, when it
dawned on me, my husband used to be a boy.
I have never been accused of being a rocket
scientist.
Oh the picture above is one of the sunflowers that
came up during the spring and I thought it was very pretty.
This next picture is what it looks like now.

It was chomped. We have these large green parrots,
their favorite food is sunflowers. There are flocks of
them now and every morning they are out here,
in the trees and eating sunflowers. They just bite
the head off the sunflower and then fly to another branch
and sit and eat it all up.
They also like plums and they will sit in my plum trees
and eat the plums that grow high on the branches.
This morning they were sitting on the power lines,
waiting for me to leave so they could devour some more
sunflowers. I can't ever get close enough to take a picture,
that will be a summer time goal to capture one on film.
I hope you have a lovely, summer, June day.
I will be working in the garden and loving all of the warm
weather.
"Then I will give them a heart to know Me,
that I am the Lord."
(Jeremiah 24:7)

I have three boys. I wish that I would have understood that "A rooster must be a rooster" 20 years ago...I would have fretted less.
Sorry about your sunflowers and plums. Years ago I planted some glads and right when they were at there prettiest I heard my middle son, then about 4, say, "Mommy, look a bunny is having breakfast in our yard!"
Chomp, chomp, chomp
What can you do? He was delighted!

That parrot just tore it right off, didn't it? Good thing you're planting plenty more. :-)

Hi Kim,
Having had three boys I know what you mean, and when they get together which is very seldom since they live so far apart, they just pick up where they left off.
I found the parrot story very fascinating, I wouldn't mind having something so pretty around but if they are going to eat my fruit and flowers I think I will just have to let you keep them. lol I do hope you capture a photo of them and share.

Thank you for coming by today and for your prayers, she and I both were crying when she left, I think papa shed a tear too, but you know how good men are about hiding their tears. lol.

She is safely home, and sounded al little sad, but by tomorrow she will be with her friends and things will be back to normal. We really enjoyed her.

I also hope you got some work done in your garden today. We are cooking here today, I mean really hot with high heat index.

Your comment was so wonderful and a testimony of who God is, thank you for sharing,
Enjoy your weekend,
Hugs,
Sue

Hi Kim, Thank you so much for letting me know how to make a smoothie! Wow, I've only seen parrots in the pet store, it must be amazing to see them just flying out and about.
